Last month, Limited Run Games revealed it would be releasinga seven-game collector’s edition for the Yakuza series. It kicked things off by releasing physical versions ofYakuza KiwamiandYakuza 0, the PlayStation and Xbox editions coming with a slipcase for all seven of the collection’s games. If you bought both and you plan on filling that slipcase, it’s time to place another pre-order.
Limited Run has opened pre-orders for Kiwami 2 on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, and once again, you’ve got the standard or collector’s edition to choose from. If you’d just like to own a physical copy of the second Yakuza game on either PS4 or Xbox One, both are available now for $34.99 each. I’m also assuming the standard edition comes with the same slipcase as Kiwami and Zero for those who plan on filling all seven slots, although that’s not entirely clear.
If you want as much Yakuza swag as possible, not to mention official merch spun from the series that you won’t be able to get anywhere else, then there’s the collector’s edition. Along with a physical copy of the game (a Steam key if you get the PC version), Kiwami 2’s LRG collector’s edition also comes with character cards, a physical copy of the game’s soundtrack, a Majima Construction poster, and a third acrylic standee.

Time To Fill Another Slot In That Slipcase
Each of the LRG collector’s editions comes with a unique standee and all of them can be connected once you’ve got all seven games. Speaking of the first two games in this Limited Run run, you’ve still got a chance to grab them, but time’s almost up. The pre-order window for Kiwami and Zero will close on November 11, after which point they will no longer be available to buy. That applies to the physical version of Kiwami on Nintendo Switch which is also being handled by LRG.
It might seem a little unfair that these games are only available for a limited time, but that’s kind of Limited Run’s thing. It’s right there in the name after all. Those familiar with the site will also know that you often have quite a wait between the pre-order period ending and your items being shipped. The physical copies of Kiwami 2, for example, won’t be released until April 2025. You have until Jun 10, 2025, to pre-order the sequel.

Rebuilt from the ground up, Yakuza Kiwami 2 uses the Dragon Engine to update one of the series stand-out titles into a modern classic. Play fan favorite minigames including updated versions of the Cabaret Club simulator and Clan Creator, or check out all new additions like golf bingo and Toylets. Also new to Kiwami 2 is the ‘Majima Saga’ which features Goro Majima in his own playable adventure revealing events that occur prior to the game.
Sega and RGG will likely be hopeful that the arrival of Yakuza’s TV adaptation will have inspired a new audience to go and give the Yakuza games a go, similar to the effect theFalloutshow had earlier this year. I previously assumed the Like A Dragon show hadn’t had a big enough impact to do that, but apparently even the Borderlands movie resulted in a spike for Borderlands video game sales, so maybe Yakuza’s adaptation will have more people trying the games.
