Summary

One of the biggest questions hanging overXbox’s Activision Blizzard acquisitionwas what would become ofCall Of Dutyafter it went through. The launch ofBlack Ops 6has proved Xbox intends to keep the series multi-platform, however, the wait for classic Call Of Duty titles to arrive on Game Pass continues. We may have just got a hint that the end of that wait is in sight, at least for a few of the older games in the series.

First spotted byKnoebelwho shared their discovery on Twitter, three classic Call Of Duty games have recently been added to Microsoft’s PC Store - Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call Of Duty 2, and the original Call Of Duty with its United Offensive expansion pack. That last one is particularly interesting not only because it still holds a special place in some people’s hearts more than 20 years later, but also because it was never released on console.

That will be why United Offensive is, for now at least, still only available on PC. You canbuy the bundle right now for $24.99. However, as Knoebel notes, it and the other two older Call Of Duty games appearing out of nowhere on the Microsoft Store could indicate that a Game Pass drop is coming soon. The arrival ofCrash Bandicootand Spyro’s remastered trilogies on the Microsoft Store wound up preceding their eventual arrivals on Game Pass.

Older Call Of Duty Games Have Quietly Been Added To The Microsoft Store

Previously That Has Indicated An Imminent Arrival On Game Pass

More than a year on fromXbox’s Activision acquisition being finalized, there are still only two Call Of Duty games available to play on Game Pass -Modern Warfare 3, and the newest entry in the series, Black Ops 6. There are a lot of older Call of Duty games currently available on Xbox consoles, including Call Of Duty 2 and Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, via backwards compatibility, but none other than the two mentioned are on Game Pass.

Xbox is taking quite a bit longer than expected to roll out Activision’s library on Game Pass, drip-feeding the subscription service with its newest studio’s titles rather than adding them all in one go. There are a few Crash and Spyro games on there now, but almost the entire Call of Duty library is missing, and there’s still no sign of any Tony Hawk games coming to Game Pass. There’s also been no mention of aGuitar Herorevival despite new life being injected into the genre by Fortnite Festival.
