As you explore Thedas inDragon Age: The Veilguard, you’ll find loads of chests to loot. In those chests you find gold and random items that are classed as valuables. You can then sell those valuables to Faction merchants in return for some gold and a small amount of Faction Strength.
That Faction Strength is then used to upgrade merchants and unlock new gear to buy. However, while you’ll have a lot of valuables to sell after completing main quests, you have to decide who you’re going to sell them to. That decision is not an easy one to make.
Which Faction Should You Sell Valuables To?
Who you should sell your valuables to comes down to a few considerations. Before we get into the deeper reasons to choose one faction over another, you can simply choose based on which faction you prefer.
You cannot reach max Stength and Merchant Rank with whichever faction you do not help when Treviso and Minrathous are attacked by dragons.
Otherwise, the most obvious reason to choose one faction over anotheris the connection between them and the companions you have the best relationship with. Since you’ll likely complete side quests and gain Faction Strength in the meantime, you’ll make good progress towards ranking up the faction.
Therefore, selling your valuables to those factions to max their store rank quickly will be smart.

Keep a Light On, The Returned Cultist Case
You can also just use your valuables to gain Faction Strength for any faction you’re close to leveling up, so that you can quickly unlock and purchase the gear they’re selling at their next rank.Merchants will also offer more gold in return when you’re close to reaching the next rank.
Otherwise, you can instead look through the gear faction merchants sell at higher ranks and see if there’s stuff you’d like to buy. Then, you can sell your valuables to those merchants.

Should You Buy Valuables From Merchants?
When buying gear and mementos from merchants, you’ll also notice that you can also buy valuables. However, it’s not clear whether they’re worth the investment.
There are two reasons to buy valuables from merchants, but they shouldn’t be a priority. If they’re selling gear that’ll upgrade your Rook or Mementos, you should buy them first. The first reason to buy valuables though, is becausesome of them increase some of your stats when you purchase them. Some will increase your maximum health by 100 and some will increase your defense by one percent.
Otherwise, you’re able to alsobuy them if you’re in dire need of Faction Strength. In return for some gold or common resources, you get a valuable that you can then sell to a merchant for a smaller amount of gold and some Strength.
If you have loads of the resources or gold, which you likely will, and don’t need them for Caretaker gear upgrades, you can buy valuables whenever you see them.
