Path of Exile 2has a lot of bosses. It seems that every time you enter a new area, there is a boss for you to take on and defeat. Not all of these bosses are required to beat for the story; you’ll stumble across many optional bosses that are quite formidable.

If you are making your way through Act One and want to take on every optional boss, you’ve come to the right place. In this guide, we are going to take a look at where to find every optional boss in Act One. This will also include the unique item that they may drop upon defeat.

Every Optional Boss In Act One

Below, you can see every optional boss in Act One of Path of Exile 2. When defeating these bosses for the first time, they will drop a unique item. You’ll be able to defeat them again when the map resets, but the same item (such as a Book of Specialisation) won’t drop again.

Location

Beira of the Rotten Pack

Head of the Winter Wolf (this gives you +10% to Cold Resistance when consumed)

The Grelwood

Beira is quite noisy; you should be able to hear her talking before approaching her icy arena.

The Devourer

No drop, but this is required to complete the side quest calledTreacherous Ground

Uncut Skill Gem

This boss is found in a giant, vine-y arena. Brambleghast is pretty stationary though; it won’t move around too much.

The Grelwood(inside a seemingly-abandoned hut)

Uncut Support Gem

The Grim Tangle

This boss is found in a large and round arena with spores clustered in the center (these will deal damage).

Book of Specialisation

Hunting Grounds

This area is marked with a checkpoint and an arena, with a wooden gate nearby that leads down a long path.

This boss fight will take place in three locations; after one phase ends, he’ll run to the next.

Ogham Farmlands

This isn’t a typical boss with an orange-colored nameplate; instead, Vargir will have a gold nameplate. To find him, look around tall crops until you see a crop circle.

Gembloom Skull (this gives you +30 Spirit when consumed)

Freythorn

To find this boss, you’ll need to complete all the rituals in Freythorn, with the final ritual altar serving as the location of the battle.

Candlemass, the Living Rite

Candlemass Essence (this will give you +20 max. HP when consumed)

Ogham Manor

Candlemass is in a chapel-like room; you’ll need to head to the very front in order to spawn this boss.

All of these bosses have a checkpoint near their ‘arena’, which can serve as an indication that you are near.
