Your journey through the land of Faerûn inBaldur’s Gate 3need not be one you walk alone. You can recruit companions to join you on your quest, and each companion has a story to tell and a past to uncover. One such companion you can recruit is a half-elf named Shadowheart.
Shadowheart is a cleric who is loyal to the goddess of darkness and loss, Shar. When you first meet her, she’s very guarded and her past is shrouded in mystery. As you journey together, her story will unfold and you’ll shape her ending to be one of freedom, doom, or somewhere in between.

While following Shadowheart’s questline, there will be choices to be made that maydrastically change the course of her fate. Depending on what you decide to do, her story will meeta certain ending.

IfShadowheart kills the Nightsong, she willbecome a Dark Justiciarand will remain loyal to Shar. In the end, she will be rewarded with the title ofMother Superior, which was a position previously occupied by Viconia DeVir.
If you were in a relationship with Shadowheart,she will break things offout of her devotion to Shar.
As the newly appointed Mother Superior, Shadowheart will bestaying in the House of Griefand Shar’s influence will greatly increase.
Shadowheart Continues The Life Of An Adventurer
If Shadowheart choosesnot to kill the Nightsong, she’ll essentially berejecting Shar’s authorityand willlearn of the pastthat was wiped from her memories. Her disposition willgreatly change, in addition to her appearance.
When you journey to the House of Grief, you will need todefeat the Mother Superiorof the Dark Justiciars,Viconia DeVir. Once she’s out of the picture, Shadowheart will be able to finally see the people she was taken from so many years ago,her parents.
She will then be faced with a tough choice imposed by Shar herself:save her parentsor berid of Shar’s curseon her. You will have a hand in helping her decide. If you push her to free herself from Shar’s curse,her parents will perish.
As a result,Shadowheart will be free from Shar’s graspas is the wish of her parents. She will thenbecome an adventurer and a loyal Selunitewho battles Sharrans throughout her journey.
Shadowheart Lives A Quiet Life In The Country
If Shadowheartspares the Nightsongbut chooses to live with Shar’s curse tosave the lives of her parents, her story will end withher living a peaceful life with themafter the final battle.
She willstay with her parents in a country farmsteadand live a life of love that she was robbed of growing up.
If youromanced Shadowheart, you’ll be able tojoin Shadowheart and her parentsin their peaceful life.
Shar’s curse will still be causing her pain, butit will no longer be as great as before.
