Acrobatic Silky is the second major Youkai who is shown in the Dandadananime. She has been haunting Aira since childhood and thinks of herself as a mother to her. She acts possessive and ends up hurting Momo, Okarun, and Aira during the warehouse battle. The cause of her behavior is deeply rooted in her tragic past, where she lost her own daughter.
Acrobatic Silky’s life was all about trying to survive in a harsh world, where she constantly lacked cash. Yet she appears to be a gentle mother who did her best for her daughter. They share some heartwarming moments before the tragedy occurred.
Who Is Acrobatic Silky?
Acrobatic Silky is a Youkai who appears to beobsessed with Aira. Apparently, she remembers Aira from her past and desperatelywants her to call her a motheronce again. She has been following her constantly butAira could not see her until she gained some spiritual prowess.
Acrobatic Silky is an agile Youkaiand her moves are strong enough, yet sheshows desperation and hysterical emotions. When Aira refuses to call her a mom, Silky consumes her to feel closer to her and ends up hurting others in the warehouse during the battle.
She almost kills Aira andwants to take responsibility for her actionsafter Momo and Okarun defeat her. Acrobatic Silky mentions that the only way to save Aira is toconnect her dying Aura with hers before it fades away.
When Momo acts like a cable to transfer Silky’s Aura to Aira.She witnesses Silky’s backstory, which answers a lot of questions about her erratic behavior as a ghost.
Acrobatic Silky’s Backstory
The scene starts withSilky waking up in a bedroomand, while the anime doesn’t show it explicitly, the manga confirms thatshe was working as a prostituteto make ends meet.
On her way back, she sawa red dress in a shop’s window, and this appears to be thesame dress Silky wears in her Youkai form. When she returns home a little girl hugs her, who is her daughter, and Silky embraces her with a warm smile.
A few wholesome scenes with her daughter are shown, whereSilky is teaching her daughter Ballet, and the shoes her daughter is wearing are of a larger size, which suggests thatAcrobatic Silky may have been a Ballerina, but ended up quitting due to the circumstances of her life.
Despite finding it hard to make ends meet,she tries her best to provide for her daughterand is shown to be working as a Janitor as well.
A date is marked on the calendar, which suggests the coming birthday of her daughter.
She buys the same red dress for her daughter for her birthday. The family enjoyed a good meal and a birthday cake, but things were about to turn for the worst.
The next scene shows her daughter hysterically crying, while some men are beating up Acrobatic Silky in front of her.They appear to be loan sharksas they are shown to pick up anenvelope that contains money.
She obviously didn’t earn enough, so these men insteadgrabbed her little daughter while she cried. Acrobatic Silky tries to desperatelychase them into the streets, but just before reaching the car, sheloses her strength and consciousness.
The fate of her daughter is unclear, but it’s suggested that she is dead as Aira prays for both of them at the end of the episode.
The next scene showsSilky on top of a buildingstanding over some water. She then starts doing ballet, but sadly, this beautiful scene has tragic implications.
At theedge of the roof,Silky performs a Jete jumpand a flashback to some wholesome moments with her daughter is shown, with herthanking her motherat the end for everything she has done for her sake.The loud ‘thud’ soundconfirms that she died.
It’s unclear how long Acrobatic Silky wandered the streets as a spirit.She appears to be losing her memoriesand doesn’t remember her daughter, and yet she feels that she has forgotten something important.
A little girl namedAira grabs her white dress and calls her mommy, which stirs her emotions. Silkyvows to protect her, transforming into a Youkaiand ends up haunting her.
Aira’s real mother was dead as shown in the backstory.
What Happened To Acrobatic Silky?
After giving her Aura to Aira, Acrobatic Silky appears to befading away. She seems to regret hurting Aira when she lost her senses as a monster.
Turbo Granny mentions that with no Aura left, she won’t be able to rest in peace asshe also feels some strong regrets.Instead,her existence will disappear, leading everyone to forget about her.
However, Turbo Granny mentions that her being able to rest in peacedepends on the state of her heart. Acrobatic Silky seems very broken, saying that she made her daughtersuffer greatly in life.
She also wishedshe could do a lot more for herandapologized for making her so unfortunate. Aira hugged her,called her mommy, and told her thatshe had been the happiest with her.
It’s suggested thatAcrobatic Silky may have gotten some peace in her afterlilfealong with her daughter, as Aira prays for both of them toreach a much kinder world.
