The first chapter of The Corrupt Hand of the Church inThe Stone of Madnesswas quite long. Starting with Alfredo and Leonora, you later added Amelia, Agnes, and Eduardo to your team. In the previous chapter, you spent a lot of time with Brother Guillermo; you broke a mirror to make him break his silence vow and learned he was in love with a nun.
Finally, you unexpectedly and inappropriately caught him in a stable. In this chapter, based on the information you learned from Brother Guillermo, you’ll discover that the Inquisitor is hiding dark secrets. As a result, Guillermo will ask you to stop the Inquisitor’s horrific actions.
How To Reach The Wine Cellar
Your first objective in this chapter is to destroy three operating tables. To learn the location of the first one, you need tospeak with Tia del Nido, who can be found in the Wine Cellar. To get to the Wine Cellar, your first task is toreach the Nuns Garden, located east of the Laundry area.
The Nuns Garden is where you caught Brother Guillermo and his lover nun in the stable at the end of the previous chapter. In the Nuns Garden, go to the front of the tower next to the stable with a corpse in front of it. Use Eduardo’s crowbar or Leonora’s lockpicking skill tounlock the iron gate leading to the tower.
Next, use Eduardo totake one of the planksnear the cellar door in the Nuns Garden.Distract the nunsin the garden using Alfredo’s priest robe and Sermon skill.Place the plank you took with Eduardo onto the ledgesnext to the tower. Once the plank is in place, cross it anddescend the stairs to reach the Wine Cellar.
Another way to reach the Wine Cellar is as follows: Stand in front of the door leading from the Laundry to the Cloister. From here, pass through the door with the gargoyle statue and head upwards. If you keep going far enough, you’ll reach the end of the corridor and find yourself at the Wine Cellar.
First, in the Wine Cellar, destroy the planks near the corpse by controlling Eduardo and using a crowbar. After unlocking the first iron-barred door in the Wine Cellar, you need to climb the stairs. There, you’ll encounter another iron-barred door; unlock it using Eduardo or Leonora.
Once unlocked, you’llfind Tia Del Nido above.However, there will be a trap in front of her. To disarm it, you mustuse Eduardo and sacrifice a Crowbar in the process.
Where To Find The First Experiment Table
After speaking with Tia del Nido, you will learn the location of the first experiment table.Head back to the area near the first iron-barred dooryou unlocked and proceed north. There, you’ll encounter two guards. You can easilybypass them using Alfredo’s priest robes, and behind them,near a big cabinet, you’ll find a key.This key will unlock the Ancient Oven.
The Ancient Oven is a passage to reaching the experiment table mentioned by Tia del Nido. After exiting the cellar door in the area, you’ll see the building where the oven is located. In front of this building, you can use Alfredo’s Investigate skill to follow footprints.
Use the key to open the oven door, and as you follow the footprints, you’ll find Alfredo’s burned shoes inside the fire. If you’ve unlocked Leonora’s ‘Rope with Hook’ skill, you’re able to access the top part of the Ancient Oven.Pressing the button in the chimneywill extinguish the flames inside the oven, allowing you to proceed to the area containing one of the operating tables.
Once inside,avoid being spotted by the soldierand destroy the experiment table using one of the following characters:
Where To Find The Second Experiment Table
The second operating table is located in thewesternmost part of the Wine Cellar.This is the section above the seated guard next to the bell, where the experiment area is clearly visible. To reach it, you need touse Leonora to climb the wall.Once there, you can easily destroy the experiment table by firing the Worn Pistol.
Alternatively, you can access the area byusing the switch next to the cellar door, which opens the door leading to the table.
Where To Find The Third Experiment Table
To learn the location of the final operating table, you mustgive two eggs to Tia del Nido.She will then reveal that the last operating table is in the Laundry area. In the northern part of the two-column hall there, you will notice a wet wall. Interacting with it will reveal that, despite being repaired, it’s not very sturdy.
While Alfredo distracts the surrounding characters with his Sermon skill,use Eduardo and a crowbar to quickly break through the wall.On the other side of the wall, you’ll find the last corpse’s operating table. Destroy it, and a cinematic will play.
Sister Elvira will enter the room, informing you that the Abbot has been poisoned and handing you the Library key. The chapter will then come to an end.
