TheYu-Gi-Oh! TCGwent all out in the year 2024 with every set adding strong cards or giving players the reprints that they need to keep up with the meta. However, not all sets are created equally. Some managed to steal the hearts of players right away with the distribution of the cards, while others made players stick to buying singles online.
So which sets had the best cards, the most forgiving odds, and the most impact on the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG? From sets that introduced new budget options to containing some of the greatest chase cards of all time, here are the best sets of 2024.
11Dueling Mirrors Tin
A Tin Plagued By Rarity Distribution
The Dueling Mirrors Tinfeatures many reprints of popular cards from 2023 and 2024. This includes S:P Little Knight, Bonfire, Triple Tactics Thrust, and Snake-Eyes Poplar. The only issue with these reprints is that the tin has them all in high rarities.
With some of these cards already printed as secret rares, the tins don’t do what a reprint is supposed to do, which is to make cards more accessible. However, with more copies running around, the inclusion of these cards at least lowered their prices on the market to some degree, especially Trident Dragion, which finally found a home in Tenpai Dragons.
10Maze Of Millenia
Anime Cards Make A Comeback
Maze of Millenia doesn’t stand out as much with Bonfire getting plenty of reprints. However, it still managed to get manycards that were only seen in the animeto make their first appearance. This includes cards like Clorless, Chaos King of Dark World, and Number 1: Infection Buzzking.
This set also buffed up some lesser archetypes, such as The Flame Swordsman and the Earthbound Immortals. It also included a reprint of Triple Tactics Thrust, though it was short-printed. If you enjoy the anime, then this is a great set, but if you’re looking for a competitive box to open, there are better options.
9The Two-Player Starter Set
A Great Set For Edison And Goat Format
The two-player starter set is a way to get players into the groove of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG. However, while the instructions are limited, it has plenty of fantastic reprints. The highlight of the set is an affordable copy of Divine Arsenal AA- Zeus Sky Thunder.
The set also includes plenty of cards that are useable inGoat and Edison Format, such as Book of Moon, Scapegoat, Cyber Dragon, and D.D Crow. This isn’t bad for a set meant to get players into the game.
8Rarity Collection 2
In The Shadow Of The Original Rarity Collection
Rarity Collection 2 may not havethe same level of appeal as the first Rarity Collection set, but it has its stand-out inclusions. This set includes cards printed in multiple rarities from super rare to quarter-century secret rares.
Cards like Guardian Chimera, Underworld Goddess of the Closed World, and Pressured Planet Wraitsoft all get reprinted in the set. Rarity Collection 2 also includes more hand traps featuring their alternate arts. This is a great set to rarity bump your existing decks and getting cards that were previously harder to buy into.
7Legacy Of Destruction
King Of Budget Yu-Gi-Oh!
It’s not often that a fresh archetype becomes budget right away, butLegacy of Destructionmanaged to pull it off with Tenpai Dragon. Tenpai would then go on to become one of the toughest decks in the 2024 lineup.
However, it’s not all Tenpai Dragons, Illusion monsters got a new essential card in the form of Nightmare Apprentice. This set also included Nightmare Throne, which only made Yubel even stronger than it was before. Overall, a solid set for the year.
6Battles Of Legend: Terminal Revenge
One Card To Rule Them All
Battles of Legend: Terminal Revengehas a decent mix of reprints and new cards. Some cool reprints include Kurikara Divincarnate and Gigantic Spright. However, it also has some fresh cards, such as Phantom of Yubel.
The real reason Battles of Legend: Terminal Revenge stands out is due to the inclusion of Dragon Master Magia. This card is the equivalent of finding a golden ticket to Wonka’s factory. Only printed as a quarter-century secret rare, making the ultimate chase card.
5The Infinite Forbidden
Exodia, Mimighouls, And Mulcharmies, Oh My
The Infinite Forbidden earns its place as one of the best sets of the year for the inclusion of the Fiendsmith archetype alone. These fresh Fiends make their way into any of the top decklists due to their versatility and ease in getting into their engine.
This set also includes the White Forest archetype, Millennium cards to go with Exodia, and fresh Mimighouls for those who want to play a budget deck. This set also included the first Mulcharmy out of three, giving the Infinite Forbidden multiple chase cards.
4Phantom Nightmare
The Rebirth Of Yubel
The Phantom Nightmare setis a sequel to the Phantom Darkness set which first introduced Yubel. With Phantom Nightmare, the archetype was elevated to meta status with new monsters and Spells to make the deck more consistent.
Yubel isn’t the only archetype to get some love in this set. The Voiceless Voice archetype is also another highlight of the set along with the Dark Souls-inspired Ashened cards. This is also the set where Promethean Princess and Snake-Eyes Poplar first appeared, giving Fire decks way more power.
3Crossover Breakers
A Great Deck Build Pack
Crossover Breakers is the final set of 2024. Unlike core sets, this box focuses on giving players all the cards they need to build a deck out of a specific archetype. These archetypes include Ryzeal, Maliss, and Ryu-Ge.
The most notable of the three is the Alice in Wonderland-inspired Maliss archetype, which likes to banish cards to get bodies on the board. This makes it the perfect archetype to combo with Dimension Shifter. This archetype alone makes Crossover Breakers one of the best side sets of the year.
2Quarter Century Bonanza
Rarity Collection 3 In Disguise
If Rarity Collection 2 was a step down from the original set, thenQuarter Century Bonanza is a massive leap up for the side series. This includes easy-to-find reprints of Triple Tactics Thrust, Bonfire, S:P Little Knight, and Promethean Princess.
This set is also great for nostalgia since it includes fresh printings of the Egyptian God Cards, The Dragon Rulers, and the Monarchs. With multiple cards getting reprinted in different rarities, it just makes getting what you want from this set so much easier.
