Pokemon TCG Pocketcontains ten different Pokemon types to choose from, minus the Fairy-type, which hasn’t been seen since the Sun and Moon era of the TCG. Each type requires its own Energy and has its own dedicated Pokemon roster to start deckbuilding with.

Are you looking to deal massive damage while healing your Pokemon at the same time? How about flooding your team with enough Energy to pull off your best attacks early in the game? It’s safe to say that some types have major advantages over others. So which type stands on top as the greatest due to power or variety?

10Dragon

A Small Pool Of Cards

Dragon has the least number of cardsto choose from. Luckily, there are just enough cards to make a Dragonite deck with or slide in a Druddigon for support in other decks. Dragon-type Pokemon are powerful since they have no Weaknesses and high attack power.

Dragons, however, have a hefty requirement of two different types of Energy making them difficult to set up. This is even harder with Pokemon TCG Pocket only giving you one Energy per turn to work with. Dragon needs a boost if it wants to rise up.

9Steel

Hit Em With The Steel Rod

Steel-type cards don’t have as much representationwith only a handful of Pokemon to select from and no dedicated Supporter card. The card pool also barely hits the diversity quota of a Basic Pokemon with a Move effect, a vanilla Two-stage line, and one boss Pokemon.

Steel needs more support if it wants to be recognized as a usable Pokemon type. Its most promising line is Meltan, since it can generate Steel Energy on its own, while Melmetal can protect itself from damage and deal a consistent 120 each turn.

8Darkness

Poison, Traps, And Other Sneaky Tactics

WhileDarkness Pokemon may not be at the top of the meta, they have plenty of cards to choose from and can even take your opponent by surprise. Some cards can lock your opponent’s Pokemon in place, while others can inflict Poison for some major damage between turns.

Darkness also has the benefit of having an advantage against Psychic Pokemon. With Psychic being one of the more powerful types in the game, being able to snuff them out with Darkness brings the type’s value up. Some Darkness decks can even take advantage of Koga for a free Retreat.

7Fighting

Raw Power

The Fighting-type roster is diverse, withcards that can punch your opponent’s Benched Pokemon, stop them from getting Evolutions out, or even act as a contingency plan against potential knockouts. This is one tough type.

The one theme that ties all these Pokemon together is that they all have a way of dealing massive damage. These cards are also simple in their strategies, making them an excellent type for beginners. In addition to this, they also give Electric-types a hard time, which is great when you need to shut down some Pikachu decks.

6Fire

Burning Aggression

Fire-type Pokemon stand outwith their aggression. Fighting-types may have raw power, but Fire can turn the heat on early in the game. Moltres ex only needs one Energy to start fueling all the Fire Pokemon on the Bench.

While Charizard is the most powerful hitter in the entire game, there are also plenty of single-point Pokemon worth playing, including Ninetails and Rapidash. You can even take advantage of Blaine to bridge the gap between your Pokemon’s attacks and your opponent’s HP for some easy knockouts.

5Electric

Swift And Effective

The Electric-type selection is one of the best in Pokemon TCG Pocket. There are plenty of Pokemon to create decks around, whether you want to go rogue with 18 Trainers and a bird, or hit hard with Pikachu ex.

Electric-types usually keep Retreat Costs to a minimum, allowing them to move between the Active Spot and the Bench with ease. Magneton also gives the type a way togenerate Energy in the background, though it requires Lt. Surge to make the most of it. Overall, it is a solid type.

4Colorless

Tech For Other Decks

If you’re looking for flexible cards, then look no further than the Colorless-type. These cards don’t have any specific Energy requirements so they can be splashed into any deck. Do you want more draw power? Slide in a Chatot. How about some extra muscle? Farfetch’d will do the trick.

WhileColorless Pokemon tend to be splashed into other decks, the Mythical Island set introduced Pidgeot which helps the type have their own powerful ex Pokemon to rally behind. Many of these Pokemon also have unique effects you won’t find in any other type roster.

3Grass

Healing Power And Energy Blasts

One type that has seen immediate improvement is the Grass-type. The Grass-type started off with a focus on keeping their Pokemon around using healing skills. However, they lacked Energy acceleration to get off the ground quickly. Mythical Island changed everything for this type.

With the addition of Jungle Totem, every Grass Energy is worth double. Meanwhile, cards like Exeggcute can let you sprinkle Grass into any other deck.Celebi ex and Venusaur ex are two powerful choicesthat can leave many other types in the dust due to their overwhelming damage.

2Psychic

Abundant Strategies And Extra Consistency

Psychic and Water are constantly at each other’s throats.Psychic not only has some of the best cards, such as Mewtwo ex, but it also has Energy acceleration that occurs on the Bench. With the addition of Mew ex, you’re able to not only add Psychic damage to any deck, but you can also copy some of your opponent’s best Moves.

If that wasn’t enough to make Psychic a top-tier type, cards like Mythical Slab add an extra layer of consistency for any deck that relies on Evolution Pokemon.

1Water

An Abundance Of Sea Life

Pokemon TCG Pocket isfilled with Water Pokemon. In fact, this is the type that has the most options. you’re able to go bird turbo with Articuno ex, play it swiftly with Starmie ex, or have Greninja sniping your opponent’s Bench from far away.

Water also has Misty, which is the best Energy acceleration card in the game. It may require coin flips, but the fact that Misty is compatible with every card under the Water banner makes it the most versatile. This is also the only type that has the potential to attack on the first turn due to Misty, allowing it to win games quickly.
