There are ten different fishing tackles inStardew Valley. Each one is different, and can be used to reel in unique fish. Some are better for slower fish, while others are great for rare or legendary fish. If fishing is your favorite part of the game, mastering the tackles is imperative.
You can use one tackle on the Iridium Rod, and pair two tackles together on the Advanced Iridium Rod. Collect and use different tackles to become the ultimate Stardew fisherman. Keep reading to find out which tackles will suit your needs best.
10Barbed Hook
Security
This hook-shaped bobber makes your catch more secure. This happens by having the fishing bar cling to your fish, which makes it harder to lose the fish during the fishing mini-game. The Barbed Hook is said to work best on slow, weak fish.
This tackle can make it harder to catch faster fish because of the way it clings to it, so it is last on the list. You can unlock the Barbed Hook at Fishing Level 8.
9Trap Bobber
Slower Fish
The Trap Bobber is a small gray tackle that can be used to make fish escape slower when you aren’t reeling them in. The fish escapes 33% slower than without the bobber. Unfortunately, you can’t get the Trap Bobber until level 6.
This is a great tackle, but it is lower on the list because it’s better at the beginning of the game. When you make it to level ten and eat foods toboost your fishing level,this bobber becomes much more useless.
8Spinner
Spinning Round And Round
The Spinner is a pretty blue tackle that spins around in the water to slightly increase the bite rate while you’re fishing. When you’re playing the fishing mini-game, there can be delays, and you might find yourself sitting there waiting for a fish to come along. This will make the fish appear 3.75 seconds sooner.
You unlock the spinner at fishing level eight, and overall it’s great for when you want to farm fishing. It’s not as versatile as other tackles, but it’s still helpful.
7Leaded Bobber
Weighted Bob
The Lead Bobber adds weight to the bottom of your fishing bar. This prevents the fishing bar from bouncing at the bottom and unlocks after fishing level six.
You can prevent your fishing bar from bouncing manually by clicking to slow it down right before it hits the bottom. That’s great for most fish, but difficult for rare and legendary fish.
6Cork Bobber
Bar Increase
The Cork Bobber slightly increases your fishing bar, which makes it easier to reel in fish. This is incredibly useful because it means there is less room within the fishing mini-game for you to lose your fish.
This is helpful and useful, but lower on the list because it’s not a huge change. That being said, it can easily pair with some other tackles on this listin your Iridium Rodto give you the best fishing experience possible.
5Sonar Bobber
Fish Reveal
The Sonar Bobber is unique. When you equip it, you may see the fish that you have on your line before reeling them in. This is especially helpful if you’re hunting down a specific fish, or if you’re atone of the fishing festivals.
This bobber is a little lower on the list because it is less useful when you’re just fishing for the sake of fishing. You don’t necessarily need to know which fish you’re reeling in if you’re going to catch and sell all of them.
4Dressed Spinner
Advanced Spinning
The Dressed Spinner is the more advanced version of The Spinner. It’s a pretty purplish pink color and when you add it to your rod it entices fish and increases the bite rate.
This tackle is a huge improvement on the Spinner. The Spinner has a fish bite 3.75 seconds sooner, but the Dressed Spinner has a fish bite 7.5 seconds sooner. It’s well worth using, especially if you’re farming fish at a festival or for an achievement.
3Treasure Hunter
Fishing For Chests
If you guessed that the Treasure Hunter bobber helped you hunt for treasure, you nailed it. This tiny red bobber makes it so that fish don’t escape when you’re going after treasure chests, making it easier to collect any treasure you’re hoping for.
This means you’re able to get a perfect catch and a treasure chest since catching the chest doesn’t take away from your catch. That added benefit makes this bobber one of the best ones in the game.
2Quality Bobber
Iridium Quality
The Quality Bobber is a uniquely shaped bright blue tackle. This is one of the best tackles in the game by far because it boosts the quality of the fish you catch. For example, if you catch a gold Lingcod with a Quality Bobber, you will get an Iridium Lingcod.
The only other way to get iridium fish is to have a perfect catch, which means that the bar is on the fish the whole time. This can be really hard with some of the rarer fish, so the Quality Bobber is a huge help.
1Curiosity Lure
Rare Fish
The Curiosity Lure is undoubtedly the best tackle in the game. This can help you when you want any rare fish such as an Octopus, Ice Pop, or Scorpion Carp,or Legendary Fishsuch as Angler, Mutant Carp, or Crimsonfish.
This tackle is always helpful. Rare fish are unique and can be used for important recipes, sold for more money, or put into a fish tank to display your prize.
