As you might expect from this series, completing the main campaign ofDiablo 4: Vessel of Hatredis only the beginning. After you finish Vessel of Hatred’s story, you’ll unlock a plethora of endgame activities to participate in, ranging from open-world demon-slaying to challenging dungeon delving, and everything in between.
With so many new things to do, it can be difficult to know where to start. Below, we’ll take a look at a few of the first things you should do after beating the main campaign of Vessel of Hatred. This is not an exhaustive list, and we definitely recommend taking things at your own pace to figure out what you like doing the most.
7Complete The Deeds Of A Champion Quest
If you have no idea where to start, theDeeds of a Champion epilogue questis a perfect primer for Diablo 4’s endgame. This quest unlocks automatically after you finish Vessel of Hatred’s final quest, and serves as an introduction to a few of the game’s endgame activities.
Through this quest, you’ll learn about the Kurast Undercity, Tree of Whispers, Helltide, and thePit of the Artificer, which are all key activities you’ll repeatedly come back to as you explore Vessel of Hatred’s endgame. We’ll take a deeper look at these below, too.
6Farm Cinders In Helltide
Helltideis a staple of Diablo 4’s endgame. Every hour, a different part of the map is covered in the Helltide, and demons begin to roam the area. Slaying these demons will drop Aberrant Cinders, which can then be used to open Tortured Gifts found around the Helltide area.
When the Helltide moves to a new area, your Aberrant Cinders will not carry over, so be sure tospend them before you lose them!
Tortured Gifts give decent rewards, like gold, experience, and high chances of Legendary or Unique equipment. The best way to tackle Helltide is to use Baneful Hearts to summon the Blood Maiden, who drops large amounts of Cinders and other good rewards.
5Delve Into The Kurast Undercity
The Kurast Undercityis an endgame activity introduced with Vessel of Hatred. If you haven’t unlocked it yet, the aforementioned Deeds of a Champion quest will walk you through the steps, including the two quests The Kurast Undercity and Undercity: Wail of the Forgotten.
With these two done, you can now freely explore the Undercity. The Undercity itself is divided into three floors, with the first two being timed. As you kill monsters, or complete the Braziers around the dungeon, you’ll increase your Attunement, which will increase your rewards from the boss on the third floor. Overall, the Undercity is a good way to get started on some endgame gear without requiring too much time investment.
4Battle The Infernal Hordes
TheInfernal Hordes activityhas you battle waves of demons for powerful loot. Before you may start, however, you’ll need to get an Infernal Compass by either crafting it from the Occultist or getting one as a drop from a few different activities like Nightmare Dungeons or Helltide.
Between each wave of the Infernal Horde, you’ll be able to choose different modifiers that make enemies stronger but give you more Aether, which can then be spent at the end of the battle for more loot. This is also a great way to start increasing your Paragon level, as the Infernal Hordes rewards quite a bit of experience.
3Clear Nightmare Dungeons
Nightmare Dungeonsare another staple of Diablo 4’s endgame thanks to their good chances of dropping powerful equipment and Masterworking materials. Nightmare Dungeons are essentially powered-up versions of normal dungeons, and require a specific Nightmare Sigil to enter. You can get these by completing other Nightmare Dungeons or crafting them at the Occultist.
The main reward of Nightmare Dungeons is Obducite, which is used toMasterwork your gear. This process increases the stats of your gear and lets you apply new affixes at certain tiers. Nightmare Dungeons are a great activity to start with right after completing the campaign.
2Summon And Defeat Uber Bosses
Uber Bosses are one of the hardest endgame activities in Diablo 4, but they also provide the strongest rewards. Defeating these bosses is one of the best ways to farm for Uniques andMythic Uniques, which are some of the strongest pieces of gear in the entire game.
To summon Uber Bosses, you’ll need to get specific materials, with the exact type of material depending on the boss you want to fight. For the most part, these materials come from all other kinds of endgame activities, like Nightmare Dungeons, Helltide, or World Bosses.
1Clear The Dark Citadel
Finally, one of the most difficult endgame activities introduced with Vessel of Hatred is the Dark Citadel. This mode functions similarly to raids in MMOs, with multiple players tackling objectives in a large-scale dungeon. As such, the Dark Citadel is multiplayer-only, but you can use theParty Finder toolto recruit others for your run.
The Dark Citadel is divided into three wings, each with its own challenges and bosses to overcome. Besides Uber Bosses, the Dark Citadel is one of the hardest endgame activities, so we recommend working towards this as a long-term goal. Take on other activities to build up your gear, then test your skills in the Dark Citadel once you feel you’re prepared.
