SomeStardew Valleyplayers absolutely love Skull Cavern runs. They grab an endless supply of food and Mega Bombs and work their way through the cavern floors. Some people like to try different kinds of runs, such as making it to the bottom with no food or trying to hit as many floors as possible.
One of the most rewarding runs is the Skull Cavern Chest Run. The idea of this is to buy as many staircases as you’re able to from the Desert Trader and go down as far as possible so that you hit as many chests as you can. There are tons of different prizes, but keep reading to find out the best ones.
You can only buy staircases with jade from the Desert Trader on Sundays.
10Totem
Rain Or Farm
One item that you might stumble uponis a totem. The game has a variety of totems, including Desert, Farm, and Mountain. The two most common ones you’ll come across are Rain Totems or Farm Totems.
A Rain Totem will make it rain the next day, which can be great for watering crops or catching specific fish. The Farm Totem will take you back to your farm, which is perfect for when you’re out late or far away, like on Ginger Island.
9Hats
Cowboys Galore
If you’re lucky, you’ll find unique hats deep in the Skull Cavern Mines. Some of the more common ones are Red Cowboy hats, Turban, Dark Cowboy hats, and Blue Cowboy hats.
This one is fun at first but not great overall. It’s so exciting when you get your first version of the hat, but once you’ve gotten your twelfth Dark Cowboy hat, you’re pretty sick of it.
8Seeds
Ancient Or Regular
Seeds are exciting to get in a Skull Cavern chest. You can find up to twenty packs of seeds, but it’s likely you’ll get a singular pack or a pack of five, especially in the earlier levels. Because this prize isn’t absolute, it can be fantastic or not great.
One of the best seeds you can get here is an ancient seed, which can be turned into ancient fruit. However, you’re also likely to get others, including Cactus seeds, Rhubarb seeds, and Garlic seeds.
7Auto-Grabber
Grabbing Everything
This item is great when you’re early in the game. If you put it in a coop or barn, it’ll collect animal materials for you, such as eggs, milk, and duck feathers.
These can be expensive, so it’s perfect when you don’t have them. The downside is that once youdobuy a few from Marnie, they’re basically useless to get.
6Bombs
Boom!
You can get Cherry Bombs, Regular Bombs, and Mega Bombs in Skull Cavern chests. These are always helpful. Bombs have gotten more expensive, and they require valuable ingredients to make them.
The further into the mine you get, if you’re out of bombs, it becomes much harder to move forward. Therefore, this is always a valuable drop.
5Crystalarium
Endless Diamonds
Crystalariums are some of the best items that you can grab. You can make these yourself, but they cost 99 stone, five gold bars, two iridium bars, and a battery pack. It’s a hefty price for just one item.
You can use Crystalariums to duplicate gems. Many farmers use this to create jade in order to buy staircases, and others use it to duplicate diamonds for gold.
4Prismatic Shard
Rainbow Goodness
Prismatic Shards arethe most valuable gems in the game. They’re rainbow in color and can be used for a variety of things. You can give them to any NPC as a loved gift, trade them in for magic rock candy, or use them to complete the Movie Theater Bundle.
The best use for the prismatic shard is using it to get the galaxy sword. You also need to donate one to the museum. These beautiful stones never run out of use.
3Slime Eggs
Cute Little Slimes
If you’re lucky, you might come across slime eggs. These are always useful. You have two options: you can sell the egg, or you can hatch it.
If you hatch it in your slime hutch, it will release slime for you. If you decide to sell the egg, you can make a lot of money. Some eggs are lower, around 1,000g, but the Tiger slime egg sells for upwards of 8,000g, which makes it a fantastic drop.
2Saplings
Trees Galore
you may get a variety of tree saplings in the chests. These saplings can grow into fruit trees. You can place them outdoors on your farm orinside your greenhouse. There are Apricot trees, Cherry trees, Orange trees, Mango trees, Banana Trees, Peach Trees, and Pomegranate trees.
Each of these saplings costs about 6,000g at Pierre’s shop, so getting one is absolutely fantastic. Even though they take 28 days to grow, they grow a fruit every single day. Fruit is used in recipes, the community center, as liked gifts, and they can be sold.
Fruit only grows in season unless it’s in the greenhouse. Then, it grows year-round.
1Auto-Petter
Free Love
The Auto-Petteris by far the best item that you can get in the Skull Cavern. Players will do entire runs just to get it. It’s incredibly rare but worth working to find.
An Auto-Petter is pretty self-explanatory. you’re able to put it in your barn or coop, and it will pet your animals for you. This is great because when you’re too busy to pet them, you don’t have to worry. Plus, pets can stack, so even if the Auto-Petter pets them, you can still give them some love, too.
