Summary
The actor behind Terrifier’s Art the Clown, David Howard Thornton, wants to see his gruesome villain as a DLC fighter inMortal Kombat 1, which actually seems like a perfect match.
Over the past few months, the future ofMortal Kombat1 has seemed a little in disarray,as rumours have been flying that its third Kombat Pack(which would have reportedly focused more on MK characters) had been completely cancelled. Things looked grim untilrecently when an update adding Floyd the pink ninja reignited a lot of interest in the game.
That sudden influx of players and attention on Mortal Kombat 1 has made its future seem a little brighter, especially when combined with recent rumours from dataminers that more DLC characters are being worked on. Although the fighter that’s been found in the game’s filesisn’ta guest character, that hasn’t stopped us all from thinking about who’d make for a perfect cameo.
Art The Clown Wants To See Himself In Mortal Kombat
One fairly recent horror icon that instantly jumps to mind is Terrifier’s main villain, Art the Clown. Much like Mortal Kombat, the Terrifier films are all about including copious amounts of blood and gore, which makes the pairing seem inevitable. While nothing has been confirmed so far, the actor behind Art the Clown, David Howard Thornton, already sees the vision.
As pointed out by Mortal Kombat YouTuber Dynasty, Thorntonrecently took part in an episode of Slasher Radio, where he was asked about the possibility of Art appearing in games like Dead by Daylight. Thornton says that he’s completely oblivious to Art’s cameos in other games, and didn’t even know about the Terrifier beat-em-up until he was shown the trailer.
Although Thornton isn’t told about most of Art’s appearances in other works, he says that he’d be interested in seeing Art inDead by Daylightand other games. More specifically, Thornton says that he “really wants” Art to be a character in Mortal Kombat 1,noting that the game recently added Ghostface and has always had a connection to horror icons.
Oh, absolutely. I’m a huge gamer myself too so I would love that. Especially Dead by Daylight but I also really want Mortal Kombat. They have so many other horror icons, they just recently put Ghostface in - Art needs to be in Mortal Kombat. - David Howard Thornton
While we currently have no idea whether NetherRealm is going to be able to make more DLC for Mortal Kombat 1 or if it’s going to end at the T-1000, Art the Clown is a perfect horror rep that would make for a great guest character. Even if Mortal Kombat 1 is over, there’s no doubt he’ll eventually end up appearing in the series' future.
