Summary

It’s official:Final Fantasy 16’sClive Rosfield is joiningTekken 8later this month as the final memberof the Year 1 character pass, which enters early access on December 16.

As revealed during Thursday night’s The Game Awards presentation, Final Fantasy 16’s Clive Rosfield will join a stacked roster that includes the likes of Jin Kazama, Kazuya Mishima and King, among others, as roster members of the latest entry inBandai Namco’spopular fighting game franchise.

Ahead of Thursday’s announcement,Tekken fans all around the world threw their prediction in the proverbial ring, with the likes of Goro Majima, Kiryu Kazuma and even Young Sheldon being theorized as possible roster members. Of course, none of those came to pass in the end, as Final Fantasy 16’s protagonist, Clive Rosfield, will be taking that final roster spot.

It’s a major addition to the Tekken lineage, though it isn’t the first time that a non-Tekken character has been added to the fray. Tekken 7 famously had several guest characters, including Fatal Fury’s Geese Howard, Final Fantasy 15’s Noctis and The Walking Dead’s Negan. Clive will join Noctis as the only two Final Fantasy reps in the game.

While only a minute-long, the announcement trailer did provide fans with an early look at what to expect once Clive joins the roster in December. Via that trailer, it appears that Clive has a moveset revolving around his Eikon abilities and swords, with some powerful throws and combos centered around his Phoenix.

Tekken 8 Isn’t Going Anywhere, Anytime Soon

Prior to the inclusion of Clive, Tekken 8 brought back fan-favorite Eddy Gordo, along with Tekken 7’s Lidia, before managing to resurrect everyone’s favorite angry grandpa, Heihachi Mishima. While Clive rounds out the Year 1 character pass, that won’t spell the end for Tekken in the future.

That’s because,as part of Saturday’s trailer highlighting the next two major content updates, it was revealed that a Year 2 character pass will be part of things. More so, it didn’t take long for Bandai Namco to begin teasing out who would be part of that pass, as Anna Williams was rather obviously teased during the trailer.

With the addition of Clive and seemingly Anna Williams at some point in 2025, Tekken 8 is continuing to shape up as an all-time Tekken game for the ages.
