Summary
After last year’s excellent Challenger series decks,UniVersusis gearing up for its first full booster set based in the world of Critical Role. Heroes of Exandria sees the popular actual play series return to the crossover-em-up TCG, with both the Mighty Nein and the Vox Machina, and their allies and enemies, all featuring in one, big expansion.
Of course, the heroes and villains of Critical Role deserve their own alt-art cards, too. All of these Character cards can be used as the face of your next deck when Heroes of Exandria launches on March 7.
The Alt-Art Cards Of Critical Role: Heroes Of Exandria
The cards we’re revealing today include some of Critical Role’s best-known names. Alongside Vax’ildan and Vex’ahlia, who we last saw inthe Vox Machina Challenger series deck, we’ve got major party members like Scanlon and Beauregard, as well as plenty of supporting characters like the firbolg merchant Pumat Sol.
There are also some really interesting build-arounds here. Beauregard Lionett can turn your deck into attack cards, behooving you to run plenty of Punch, Kick, and Slam cards to buff them up as you go.
Meanwhile, Caduceus Clay feels purpose-built for thenew cooperative elementbeing introduced in Heroes of Exandria, with an ability that can heal any player - perfect for when you’re working with a friend to take down a boss card.
A big component of the set is giving cards character classes, with various cards spread across Brutes, Champions, Entertainers, Inventors, Mages, Pactbound, Thieves, Wardens, and, of course, Healers like Caduceus. We can likely expect more ways to recover your own health, or prop up an ally’s, from similar Healer cards as we see more of the set.
I particularly like how Pumat Sol’s abilities feeling like you’re picking them out from a shop. It fits his profession as a trader very nicely.
