Summary

A newNintendo Wiibuild of Free Radical’s cancelledStar Wars Battlefront 3from 2008 has been discovered by the Free Radical Archive, who has shared gameplay footage of the threequel that could (and should) have been.

Despite being one of the most all-time popularStar Warsspin-offs,the Battlefront games seem to have some pretty awful luck. The rebooted version of the series from EA and Dicenever managed to get the success it deserved after rocky launches, while the beloved original trilogyhad its third and most ambitious entry cancelled before it ever saw the light of day.

Over the years, we’ve heard plenty about Free Radical’s vision and aims for the cancelled Star Wars Battlefront 3,and have even seen plenty of gameplay footage thanks to development builds. While it seemed that everything that could be found for Battlefront 3 had already been shared, the Free Radical Archive has managed to uncover a new build for the planned Wii version of the game.

Free Radical Archive Uncovers A New Wii Build Of Star Wars Battlefront 3

As pointed out by ResetEra user doopsand posted by YouTuber iamashaymin Modding, the Nintendo Wii build of the game that was just discovered by the Free Radical Archive actually comes from a build that was dated one week prior to the game’s cancellation. As such, it’s likely the last build of the Wii version of Battlefront 3 that was ever tested, and likely of the game as a whole.

With that new build of the game, the Free Radical Archive has put together a gameplay trailer that recreates the one originally createdby Free Radical in November 2008. You can see that trailer above, and it gives us a great look at how the game might have turned out if we lived in a better timeline.

For those that don’t know, Star Wars Battlefront 3 was aiming to create the “most authentic Star Wars experience ever”,with players being able to take part in both ground and space combat in one session.

The Free Radical Archive notes that the latest build is full of content that fans haven’t seen before and that, although the build isn’t final and still has bugs, will be made playable by fans for free through modding. The Free Radical Archive, who is doing god’s work let’s be honest, is a small team,so you can support its efforts through Ko-fi if you like what it’s doing.
