Summary

Split Fictionis ready to ship - more than a month before it’s actually set to launch. This was just confirmed by Hazelight Studios head Josef Fares, as the team prepares to launch its latest multiplayer title.

Hazelight Studios' last game wasIt Takes Two, a multiplayer title that won Game of the Year atThe Game Awardswhen it launched in 2021. With that in mind, expectations are high for this follow-up, especially since this is also focussing on split-screen multiplayer.

Split Fiction Is Ready To Launch

If you haven’t heard the phrase before, going gold means that the game, as it will play on launch day, is ready to go. This means that everything has been implemented into the game, and it has passed any necessary checks to launch on its targeted platforms. Often, devs will start working on day one patches after a game has gone gold. But for Splitficition to reach this stage so early, Hazelight Studios must be very confident.

Split Fiction was revealed at The Game Awards last month. Much like It Takes Two, Split Fiction has to be played in co-op, either online or locally. However, Split Fiction is getting another handy feature from It Takes Two in the form of the Friend Pass. This means that you and your co-op buddy won’t have to buy the game twice, and can beat the whole game together as long as one of you owns the full game.

We’ll have to wait and see if Hazelight has another It Takes Two on its hand. That said, our own Eric Switzer was impressed when he got an early look at Split Fiction back in December. You can check out his full thoughts on the gamehere.
