Summary

If there’s one thing that everySonicgame nails, it’s the music. The series is known for putting its all into the soundtrack, usually featuring the over-the-top rock music that we’ve come to love for over two decades now. However, it looks like the movies are shying away from this once again.

The end-credit music for the next film,Sonic the Hedgehog 3, has been released… and fans aren’t loving it, to put it mildly. Admittedly, the tone is far from what we’d expect froma film that follows the events of Sonic Adventure 2, as it seems the studio decided against ending the movie with a Crush 40 track.

Sonic 3’s End Credit Music Is Out Now, And Fans Don’t Like It

Run It by Jelly Roll is available to stream now, and you can check it out below. As you’ll be able to tell right away, it’s quite different from what would normally be considered “Sonic music”.

“What in the copyright royalty free music IS THIS,” says Twitter user @BombasticTom.

“Ngl… this doesn’t hold up to speed me up and stars in the sky,” writes @dashdemon14, referring to the previous two end credit songs.

The track also has Sonic 3 being unfavourably compared toThe Super Mario Bros. Movie, which actually did use music from the games in its credit sequence (admittedly, after shoving the film with unrelated licenced music).

With any luck, this doesn’t rule out Sonic music - or at least tracks inspired by the games - from appearing elsewhere in the movie. The trailer ended with a short Live & Learn motif, andCrush 40 have said that the song appears in the film, so hopefully that’s still on the cards. It’s hard to imagine Shadow making his film debut without that playing somewhere.

In any case, it’s not long until we find out now. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is set to hit theatres on December 20.
