Summary

Somehow, the Sonic movies seem to be getting better with each new addition to the series.Sonic the Hedgehog 3is now only a couple of thousand dollars short of $420 million at the box officemaking it the highest-grossing movie of the trilogy. Sonic’s cinematic universe won’t be stopping at three films though, and director Jeff Fowler has already acknowledged requests to introduce Silver in the future.

Speaking in an interview shared bySonicMovieUpdates, Fowler was informed that the interviewer’s daughter would like to see Silver join Sonic and the other characters from his video game universe on the big screen. The Sonic director replied that he is very aware of how much Sonic fans want to see a cinematic version of Silver and that he has taken their requests for the future-flung hedgehog to be folded into his movie plans into consideration.

While how Silver might look in a live-action movie hasn’t been teased by the Sonic 3 concept art that found its way online this week, there is one image that suggests there was once a plan for Silver to play a role in the threequel. The picture shows Knuckles and Tails speeding away from a giant ball of vehicles, buildings, and debris, but that shot never made it into the final movie.

Where Are All The Requests For Big The Cat?

One fan theory behind the concept art is that Silver is responsible for that giant ball of debris since he uses something similar during aSonic Generationsboss fight. Silver uses his powers to hoover up anything that happens to be nearby, turning it into a giant ball he can then fire at Sonic. It’s called Meteor Smash, and its appearance in some concept art isn’t the only thing suggesting the next Sonic movie might involve characters traveling through time.

Another piece of Sonic 3 concept art revealed this weekshows a victorious Dr. Robotnik standing alongside Metal Sonic. Evidence that there might be a timeline in the Sonic movies in which Robotnik is victorious and rules the world with Metal Sonic at his side. Since Silver travels back in time from 200 years in the future in the Sonic games, it would make a lot of sense for him to be introduced via a time travel storyline.

Paramount has already confirmed that there will be a Sonic the Hedgehog 4and that, if all goes to plan, it will be released in theaters sometime in 2027. We already know Amy and Metal Sonic will be a part of that movie, and perhaps it will be where Silver makes his cinematic debut too.
