Summary
The talented developers behind Skyblivion, a remake ofOblivionthat usesSkyrim’s engine, have shared a roadmap for 2025 that reveals there’s only one region left to remake.
As proven by the recent release of Fallout London, Bethesda’s roleplaying titles have always had one of the strongest modding communities in all of gaming. Out of all of its series, though, there’s one that stands above the rest when it comes to modding potential -The Elder Scrolls, specifically with Skyrim and Oblivion.
Despite both games being several generations old now, Skyrim and Oblivion havemanaged to stay in the conversation to this day thanks to the work of modders and fans. As great as everything we’ve got so far has been, though, the biggest project of all is something that’s yet to release. That is, of course, Skyblivion, a remake of Oblivion with Skyrim’s engine that started development back in 2016.
Skyblivion Is On Track To Release This Year
For some time now,the Skyblivion developers have had 2025 as the release window for the ambitious mod, meaning that it’ll be released in the next 364 days or so. To celebrate the start of its release year,a “Path To Release” video was recently shared by the mod’s team, which highlights the work that’s been done so far and what’s left to come before launch.
The video starts by revealing that the team is now “finalising” the world map of Skyblivion and that there’s only one region out of nine that needs to be completed, that being Nibene. Although the mod has been somewhat in the works for nearly a decade, that’s mighty impressive considering Oblivion’s map is larger than Skyrim’s and the team has made sure to add “handcrafted” details to all of it.
It’s worth noting that there have been somerumours about an official Oblivion remake being in the works at Xbox. Nothing concrete has been announced yet, but it’d be tricky timing for the mod if it ends up being true.
If you’re interested in Skyblivion then the rest of the video, which details how each of the regions is getting on and all of the work that’s been done on missions, interiors, and music, is well worth a watch. For now, it seems that the mod is in a very good state and should be hitting its target of 2025..
