Summary

Marvel Rivalslets you play with some of the best heroes and villains from Marvel in 6v6 matches, but one of the most interesting aspects of it is its team-up abilities.

Team-up abilities are additional skills a character can have when one of you and a teammate pick specific character combinations. Working with your team and picking the right team-ups can help you win, but from new mechanics to buffs, which of these are most effective?

Hulk and Wolverine from Marvel Rivals.

Updated on Jul 30, 2025, by Lucas Olah:With great characters comes great team-up abilities. We were recently introduced to The Fantastic Four here in Rivals - or Fantastic Two, since we’re still missing half the team - and Reed and Sue Richards have a nice team-up ability of their own. We’re also using this opportunity to take a look back at this list and verify the order is correct - we’ve all gotten more experienced and better at the game by now, haven’t we?

16Fastball Special

Straight From The Comics

This combo is very effective if used properly, benefitingWolverinewell in the process. Basically,Hulkcan throw Wolverine far away, and Wolverine will attack whoever gets in the way.

It’s useful for the free boost and attack or to help Wolverine reach places he normally wouldn’t. Just don’t throw him in the middle of the enemy team by himself.

Hulk, Doctor Strange, and Iron Man from Marvel Rivals.

15Gamma Charge

For An Extra Punch

Hulk can also benefitDoctor StrangeandIron Manby increasing the damage of some of their abilities. For Strange, that’s Maelstrom of Madness, his AOE ability, and for Iron Man, that’s the Armor Overdrive, meaning his damage will increase for a while.

This combo is an excellent deal for Iron Man since the damage bonus will apply for multiple attacks rather than the occasional burst, but both characters benefit well.

Spider-Man and Squirrel Girl in Marvel Rivals.

you may use more than one team-up at the same time, such as having Hulk, Wolverine, and Iron Man on the team and having both duelists benefit from Hulk.

14ESU Alumnus

For Extra CC

Crowd control is fun when you’re the one using it.Squirrel Girlalready has a CC ability, but you may get another one by havingSpider-Manon the team, where she throws a nut using a web to trap enemies.

Squirrel Girl is an easy character to use with a lot of DPS potential, and this will only make her better, and Peter can start combos on the person you wrapped up with ease.

Cloak & Dagger and Moon Knight in Marvel Rivals.

13Lunar Force

Now You See Me…

With Lunar Force,Moon Knightcan create an area that turns him invisible, all thanks toCloak & Dagger. This is very useful for his survivability since people won’t shoot you, and he can flank more to set up his Ankhs more easily.

His invisibility is limited to the area he creates, so he’ll be restrained to a certain location when using this ability - and people can still use AOE in the cloud to hit what they can’t see.

Venom, Spider-Man, and Peni Parker in Marvel Rivals.

12Symbiotic Bond

Fight As One

Spider-Man gets a perk this time, as you’re able to team him andPeniup withVenomfor an AOE ability using the symbiote. It covers a good area, causes a lot of damage, and lasts for a few seconds.

This one is particularly good for Peter because he has an extra attack for his combos, allowing him to become the menace J. Jonah Jameson always knew he was.

Iron Fist and Luna Snow in Marvel Rivals.

11Atlas Bond

Heal And Hurt

By reuniting these two Agents of Atlas, you’ll giveLunaan AOE ability around her that hurts and shoves enemies while also healing nearby allies. It also heals Luna herself.

It’s straightforward and effective, but it allows Luna to have a self-healing ability when no allies are around and a way to escape combat or have a better fighting chance if she’s alone.

Hela, Loki, and Thor in Marvel Rivals.

10Ragnarok Rebirth

Tricky, But Good

This team-up is either one of the best or useless, depending on how skillful theHelaplayer is with the character. IfLokiorThorare on the team, they’ll get a health boost whenever she gets a kill. But there’s more.

If one of them dies and Hela gets a killing blow, they’ll be revived. Being able to bring back your tank or your support immediately is powerful, but you must kill someone for it.

Hawkeye and Black Widow in Marvel Rivals.

9Allied Agents

This Should Be Illegal

Allied Agents is a powerful team-up, but it requiresHawkeyeandBlack Widow, two duelists with similar functions, on the team. When they’re together, Black Widow can have a small taste of Hawkeye’s ultimate.

She’ll be able to see afterimages of moving targets, and hitting the afterimage will cause damage to the enemy. Thus, you can kill someone by simply shooting an unmoving target.

Maigk, Black Panther, and Psylocke in Marvel Rivals.

8Dimensional Shortcut

Make Flankers Better

Magik,Psylocke, andBlack Pantherare already terrifying characters - why not make them worse? If Magik is around, Black Panther and Psylocke will gain the ability to teleport to their position from a few seconds ago, and they’ll gain temporary health while they’re at it.

Not only is the health recovery helpful, but if these flankers mess up, they have a free out-of-jail card and leave the situation before they die.

Groot, Rocket Raccoon, and Jeff in Marvel Rivals.

Though the team-up ability ‘leader’ doesn’t get extra features, they get passive bonuses, such as increased damage, healing, or maximum health.

7Planet X Pals

Achieve Immortality

Grootis a hard character to kill, even among other vanguards, thanks to his abilities. With this team-up,RocketorJeffcan ride you. They’ll get damage resistance, will be harder to hit overall, and they can heal you.

Having a healer on you at all times is an effective way to stay alive, and if you’re focused on protecting them while being with the group, the healer can focus purely on healing you and others or fighting. We recommend this one with Jeff more so than Rocket because staying on Groot’s shoulder isn’t good for Rocket’s exceptional mobility.
