Summary
Lego Ideas is a program that lets anyone with an idea for a newLegoset try and get their concept in front of those who decide what might be turned into toy bricks next. The next review period for those sets will begin in January 2025, anda fanmade concept for aPlayStation 2made of Legohas received enough support just in time to be officially considered by the Lego Review Board.
For a set submitted through Lego Ideas to be considered for mass creation and distribution,it must first receive 10,000 supporters. That’s why simply submitting an idea for something you think would make a cool Lego set isn’t enough. You need to create models demonstrating how it will look and detail how exactly Lego might make the set a reality. Sure, a PS2 made of Lego would be cool, but it needed someone with the vision on how to potentially make it happen to receive enough support to officially get Lego’s attention.
RippleDriveis the talented creator whose Lego PS2 concept will be officially considered by Lego in 2025 (thanks,The Brick Fan).Their Lego PS2 is 2,111 piecesand modeled after the original version of the console, not the slim version that came later. It comes with a matching Lego controller and two memory cards that can be slotted into their corresponding slots, just like the real thing.
A Lego PS2 Concept Has Hit 10,000 Supporters
That’s Enough For Lego To Officially Consider Making It A Reality
The set’s disc tray can be opened, and the images even show off the inside of the Lego console. What isn’t pictured, but is mentioned in the description, is the seven orbs you’ll find on the inside of the controller. A hat tip to the orbs you see on the PS2’s start-up screen. The set hit 10,000 supporters on June 16, 2025,meaning it got in just under the wire for consideration during Lego’s upcoming review period.
Lego will consider a lot of things when reviewing the set including how feasible it would be to turn it from a concept into reality, assessing playability, and whether it’s in keeping with the Lego brand. The biggest potential stumbling block for the set will be whetherPlayStationwants to play ball. Even if Lego loves the idea, it can’t make a PS2 set without PlayStation giving the go-ahead.
There is a working relationship between PlayStation and Lego, so there’s certainly a chance.Lego Horizon Adventuresis less than two months old, and there’sa new Lego Horizon set coming in 2025. PlayStation might also like the idea of its best-selling console being turned into a toy since its rivals are ahead of the game in that regard.Nintendo has a Lego NES set, andthe Xbox 360 was turned into a Mega setby Mattel.
