Prismatic Evolutions has thePokemon TCGin a vice-like grip right now. However, as is usually the case for the card game, the expansion that will follow the next one has been revealed with roughly a week to go until that next one gets here. As expected, the next set after Prismatic Evolutions will be Journey Together, and the first images, plus some additional information, about the expansion, have been revealed.
PokeBeachhas shared the first images of the set and detailed what trainers can expect from it, not to mention when the set will be released as well as a pre-release window. The first Journey Together products will bereleased on July 07, 2025, in the US witha pre-release period starting on March 15. That’s roughly two months after Battle Partners, the Japanese set on which Journey Together is partially based, is released.
The biggest selling point of Journey Together is its owner’s Cards, or trainer’s cards as they’ve been called for this particular set. That means the Pokemon on your cards aren’t just random ones you might find in the wild, but specific Pokemon trained by characters you’ll recognize from the games and the anime. Some of the trainer’s Pokemon already confirmed to be a part of Journey Together includeIono’s Bellibolt ex, Lillie’s Clefairy ex, and Hop’s Zacian ex.
Journey Together Will Be The TCG’s Next Set After Prismatic Evolutions
It Will Be Released On June 07, 2025
Unlike some of the earlier sets that included owner’s/trainer’s Pokemon, Journey Together will have some regular, non-trainer’s cards mixed in.Reshiram, Zoroark, and Mimikyu, for example, the designs of which have all been previously shown off. Owner’s Pokemon have come and gone from the TCG for more than 20 years, debuting in 2000’s Gym Heroes TCG. Misty’s Magikarp, which could evolve into Misty’s Gyarados, was a part of the Gym Challenge set that followed shortly after.
Pokemon tends to release 12 sets per game. Prismatic Evolutions will bringScarlet & Violet’s total up to nine, and then Journey Together will make ten. The gap between games has been unseasonably long for Pokemon and althoughLegends: Z-Ais coming in 2025, spinoffs such as that don’t tend to shift the TCG into its next era despite often getting cards of their own. That might mean Scarlet & Violet get more than 12 sets, and it might explain why Pokemon is getting inventive by introducing trainer’s cards.
