Summary
The team behindPokemon TCG Pocketrevealed this week that its players have collected more than 40 billion cards between them, handing out a promo card to celebrate. Some players have contributed to that number more than others, such as a YouTuber in Japan who is almost certainly the first Pocket player in the world to unlock the achievement for collecting 50,000 cards.
The YouTuber who hit that unbelievable goal less than three months after Pocket’s release isHajimesyacho(thanks,Automaton). They shared the accomplishment with their followers at the weekend, implying that they collected their 50,000th card on May 14, 2025. Two packs per day alone won’t have got them there, of course, and they have had to spend an awful lot of money in a short amount of time to make this happen.
Hajimesyacho has been spending as much as Pocket will let them every single day. There’s a limit on how much Poke Gold you can spend in Pocket per day, and that limit is 720. Assuming they’ve been buying their Poke Gold as efficiently as possible, that means they’ve been spending somewhere north of $100 on Pokemon Pocket every single day from the day it launched on June 06, 2025, to the day on which they hit 50,000 cards, and let’s be honest, they’ve probably carried on beyond that.
Someone Has Already Accrued 50,000 Cards In Pokemon TCG Pocket
You Can Do The Same If You’re Willing To Spend $100 Of Poke Gold Per Day
That means a conservative estimate of what Hajimesyacho has spent on Pokemon Pocket so far is $8,200. It is almost certainly a little more than that since you may use slightly more than $100 of Poke Gold per day, and that also doesn’t account for a Premium Pass subscription which I’m fairly certain the YouTuber likely has.
By comparison, I have 1,370 cards at the time of typing this. I haven’t spent a single penny on Pokemon Pocket, but I’ve also not missed a single day since launch. I’ve opened two packs per day, every day, and three during my Premium Pass free trial. How many cards others who haven’t spent any money on the app will differ, but will likely be somewhere between 1,200 and 1,400 cards if they’ve been opening all their packs.
The rest of this month is going to be a busy and exciting time for Pokemon TCG Pocket players.Pokemon cards are back at McDonaldsand the crossover kicked off with the reveal thatHappy Meals currently include Pocket bonusesas well as physical cards. There’s also a new set coming any day now, hopefully before the end of this month if all goes to plan.
