Last week,nine more secret rares, including Roaring Moon, Raging Bolt, Sandy Shocks, and Iron Valiant, were revealed for the set, and now, a brand-new card designed by a legendary manga artist has just been shown off.
Fist Of The North Star Artist Designs New Palafin Ex Card
The star of Prismatic Evolutions will undoubtedly be Eevee and its many different evolutions. But it’s clear that The Pokemon Company has gone all out for this latest expansion.
The set is due to receive a grand total of 32 Special Illustration Rare cards, including all of the Eeveelutions and many of Scarlet and Violet’s most notable Pokemon, including an array from Area Zero.
So far, we’ve seen cards featuring the following Pokemon, with many more to come:
But, while dozens of fantastic cards have already been revealed, the newPalafin exmay be one of the greatest yet. Designed by legendary manga artist Tetsuo Hara, Palafin ex is a fitting tribute to Hara’s most famous work, Fist of the North Star.
Hara’s newly designed card pays homage to the manga series, which later received anime and video game adaptations, with Palafin firing out a flurry of punches. This is in reference to protagonist Ken’s infamous attack, Hokuto Hyakuretsu Ken, or Hundred Rending Fists.
The move, which may cannonically be a little violent for Pokemon, sees Ken unleash over 100 punches, each targeting the opponent’s internal organs and making them explode.
However, this isn’t the first time Hara has designed a card for a trading game. Back in 2022, Hara’s artwork was featured on Magic The Gathering’sKaito Shizuki cardfrom the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty expansion, another card with the artist’s signature look.
Pokemon Prismatic Evolutions is set to release in January 2025.
