Summary

Prismatic Evolutions is set to be the biggestPokemon Trading Card Gameexpansion of theScarlet and Violetera.

Although the recently releasedSurging Sparkshas been lauded for its Pikachu cards, Prismatic Evolutions feels like a Hail Mary for the TCG, whichhas been struggling a little since Scarlet and Violet launched. The set has been compared toSword and Shield’sEvolving Skies, arguably the most popular expansion in the last few years, due to its number of secret rare Eeveelution cards.

As the launch ofPrismatic Evolutionsapproaches, we’ve got our next look at some of the Special Illustration Rare cards, courtesy of reveals from the Japanese equivalent, Terastral Festival.

Prismatic Evolutions Reveals Paradox Pokemon Secret Rares

Up until this point, we’d received a look at 14 of Prismatic Evolutions 32 Special Illustration Rare cards. They are:

Of those, due to its popularity and high price inEvolving Skies, Umbreon ex is the clear chase card.

While those 14 alone are likely to be enough to get fans excited (and sell tons of product forPokemon), as part of its full set reveal, The Pokemon Company shared a look at seven more Special Illustration Rares and two full art trainer cards from Prismatic Evolutions/Terastral Festival, which you can see in the gallery below:

The new reveals are heavily focused on Scarlet and Violet’s Paradox Pokemon, with Roaring Moon, Raging Bolt, Sandy Shocks, Iron Crown, Iron Valiant, and Iron Crown all making appearances alongside Amarys, Larry, and Kieran.

As with all the Special Illustration Rare reveals aside from the Eeveelutions and Dragapult, each of these Pokemon has had a special card in the Scarlet and Violet era. Roaring Moon, Iron Valiant, Iron Hands, and Sandy Shocks all previously appeared in Paradox Rift, while Raging Bolt and Iron Crown both appeared in Temporal Forces.

These reveals only go to show how good Prismatic Evolutions is going to be, as the set looks likely to cement itself as one of the Pokemon TCG’s all-time greats. It has me wondering if I can beat thenewly-set world record for most packs openedby myself.
