Summary
While many gamers may associate the fall, and in particular the month of November, with annualized releases of the likes ofCall of DutyandAssassin’s Creed, that’s only partially true. Because for nearly the last decade, November has also been marked by a newPokémongame.
Unfortunately, much like Assassin’s Creed skipping the fall, so too has Pokémon. And as discovered by a Pokémon fan on Reddit, it marks the first time in nearly a whole decade that there hasn’t been a mainline Pokémon game released.
November Is Better When Pikachu Is In It
Taking to Reddit, SonLuffy outlined that since 2016, every November has had a Pokémon game of some sort released. The November trend in particular was kicked off in 2014,with the release of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, though there was no new game in 2015, making the trend wait a year before beginning in full.
In 2016,Sun and Moonwere released on 3DS, while 2017saw the upgraded Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. 2018 brought us the firstNintendo SwitchPokémon title withLet’s Go Eevee/Pikachu, and 2019 gave usSword and Shield. Thosegames got a new physical edition featuring the DLC in 2020, withBrilliant Diamond and Shining Pearldroppinga year later in 2021. The year 2022 gave usScarlet and Violet, anda year later in 2023, a new edition featuring the game’s DLC.
Flash forward to today and 2024 is an empty month with no main Pokémon game in sight. If it’s any consolation, we did get the superbTCG Pocketgame, though it technically did release on October 30, which breaks the November trend. Thankfully,Pokémon Legends Z-A is confirmed for 2025, and a new trend can hopefully begin.
