There are few things that can give you a dopamine rush like ripping open a new pack of Pokemon TCG cards. So much so that they literally made a game out of it that’smaking quite a bit of money. Of course, that’s still nothing compared to the real thing, especially if you have the opportunity to open up 1,500 packs in a day.
That’s precisely what happened at a celebration event to mark the launch of Pokemon TCG’s Scarlet and Violet: Surging Sparks expansion sets. 20,000 cards were unboxed on a live-stream, setting a new Guinness World Record.
That’s A Lot Of Pokemon Packs To Open In One Day
The special live stream featured prominent Pokemon content creators like Joe Merrick of Serebii, Mayplaystv, and PokeGirlRach, who opened a total of 1,500 Pokemon TCG packs in 24 hours (thanks,VGC). The opened packs will be donated to UK-based children’s charities, including Bernardo’s.
The Pokemon Company International’s senior director of marketing Peter Murphy said, “It’s been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we’re thrilled to have achieved such an ambitious Guinness World Records title alongside an amazing team of content creators.”
As forPokemon TCG Pocket, the game has been going from strength to strength ever since it launched. While it perfectly recreates the joy and pageantry of opening up a new pack of TCG cards, fans are still unsure whether their choices in picking expansion types really matter.
Many claim thatpicking a pack out of the carousel really doesn’t matter, as once you obtain a new pack, the cards will be the same regardless. It doesn’t help that The Pokemon Company International has pretty muchremained silent on this. However, fans have even dived into the game’s code to suggest that your choices don’t matter.
While this may be so, picking the right pack from Pokemon TCG’s Scarlet and Violet: Surging Sparks sets will undoubtedly matter, especially thanks to the neat new artwork.
