GameStop led the disc drive restockstowards the end of last week making the product available for Pro members. The Pro member caveat meant they were in stock longer than you might expect, but they’ve since sold out.Amazon and Best Buy have followed suitthis week but since there’s no need to be an exclusive member to buy from either, the disc drives appear to have sold out almost immediately.
While it’s worth keeping an eye on all of the retailers mentioned above via the links in the box below, even if they’re still all sold out, there is still one place that has the disc drive readily available, at least at the time of typing this.PlayStation Direct has restocked the disc drive tooand it doesn’t appear to be selling out, at least not as quickly as it has been at Amazon and other storefronts.

The silver lining is the PS5 Pro has been so readily available,scalpers have been forced to sell them for a loss.

Sony’s disc drive is the perfect way to play physical disc collections on the latest PlayStation consoles. The accessory attaches to the sides of PS5 Slim Digital and PS5 Pro consoles. Once installed, buyers can also watch 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD media. Owners will need an internet connection to pair the drive with consoles.
Before you rush to buy a disc drive while it’s still in stock, it isn’t compatible with all digital PS5s. The disc drive can be attached to the PS5 Pro and the newer, slimmer model of the PS5 that was released last year. It isn’t compatible with the base version of the digital PS5. If you want to play physical PS5 games on a base PS5 without a disc drive, you’re going to need to buy a new console.
