Palworld’s numbers have been dwindling over the past few months. Although still impressive, the game dropped to an average player count of around 15,000 in November. After a dip in May and June and a bump in July, the number of players had been falling month after month.
However, the game’s latest update seems to have given it a shot in the arm. Last night, according toSteamDB, Palworld hit a peak concurrent player count of 134,747 players, the highest it has been since June 1, when around 143,000 players jumped into the game.
It’s a far cry from when Palworld launched, with the game peaking at over two million players, but it’s a step in the right direction for developers Pocket Pair.

This new update means that Pocket Pair will be ending what has been a tumultuous year on a high. After some incredible player numbers anda decent critical reception, Pocket Pair wasunceremoniously sued by Nintendo and The Pokemon Company, seemingly forusing a mechanic similar to a Poke Ball. The mechanichas now been changed, as previouslypredicted by a lawyer, but the hearing has yet to take place.

Palworld has been described as Pokemon with guns and well, it’s hard to argue with that. The game is very similar in nature to the Pokemon formula, tasking you with catching and working with monsters called Pals. There are key differences, though. Palworld is rooted in multiplayer, oh, and, unlike Pokemon, its Pals have guns.
