Summary

A reliableMortal Kombatleaker seems to think more DLC could be coming toMortal Kombat 1, as they have reportedly found evidence of Kotal Kahn being in the works.

Despite coming alongside arguably its most uninteresting guest fighter in years, Mortal Kombat 1’s latest update is one of the most exciting in some time. Thebig reason for this is because of the long-awaited introduction of Floyd, a pink ninja based on, you guessed it, Pink Floyd. Secret palette swap ninjas aside, the update proved there’s life left in MK1.

That’s a big shame considering all of the recent rumours that the game’s third Kombat Pack, which would havefocused more on original Mortal Kombat characters like Jade and Kung Jin, has been cancelled. Those rumours haven’t yet been confirmed by Warner Bros. or NetherRealm, but one leaker seems to think there’s something in the works.

Mortal Kombat 1 Leaker Says More DLC Is Being Worked On

Shortly after Floyd was discovered for the first time by Mortal Kombat 1 players, reliable dataminer Interloko took toTwitter to claim that they were “confident that T1000 is NOT the last DLC”. When asked what they meant by this, Interloko said that they always look at the game’s files when a new update is released, and that the latest patch suggests more content is in the works.

Interloko took some time to reveal what they’d discovered, but their latest YouTube video titled, “More DLC Is Coming To Mortal Kombat 1” spills the beans. According to the video’s transcript, Interloko says that they’ve found evidence in the files that indicates that Kotal Kahn is being worked on for Mortal Kombat 1, suggesting the DLC plan isn’t over.

It’s not entirely clear, but it seems that Interloko’s discovery is based on the soundfiles within Mortal Kombat 1, with Kotal’s voice likely being discovered as a new addition.

This could still mean that Kombat Pack 3 itself is cancelled and that individual characters are the new plan, but it’s not clear right now. Interloko didn’t show what they’d found that hints at Kotal Kahn being worked on,but the video does reply to a Reddit thread doubting the discovery and explaining some of the claimsthat they’ve made in the past.

All of this still leaves it very up in the air as to whether Mortal Kombat 1 will continue to get updates and characters, but it’s worth noting that Ed Boon did make a reference to more DLC in a recent Twitter post. It wasn’t clear then whether he was referring to the T-1000 or something else, but if Interloko is right it could be a sign of more things to come.
