With theMonster Hunter Wildsbeta behind us, fans will have to wait till the end of February 2025 to dive back in. Until then, you’ll have to be content with replaying Monster Hunter World and making a wishlist of changes you want to see in the final release of Wilds. The open beta was received quite well despite someperformance issues for the PC version.
We already know themonsters that will be included in Wilds thanks to a leak, so that’s one thing off the wishlists, but the community is still adding more to it. The Monster Hunter series has historically been pretty open with its collaborations and crossovers, and fans are hoping that they get one with one of the biggest games to come out recently,Elden Ring.
You Are Hunterless
Elden Ring, along with the rest of FromSoftware’s games, have some of the most memorable bosses in gaming history. While many of them are inconceivable nightmares like Rykard, there are also those that are grounded enough for the Monster Hunter universe. Over on Reddit, some fans think that Dragonlord Placidusax and Bayle the Dread would be perfect inclusions for a Monster Hunter Wilds X Elden Ring crossover.
Both these dragons are cinematic boss fights in Elden Ring and itsShadow of the ErdtreeDLC. Placidusax, with his trademark two heads (previously three) and intricately hidden lair, is one of the toughest fights of the base game. Bayle, meanwhile, is quite easy to find but incredibly hard to beat.
However, the highlight of the Bayle fight isn’t the dragon himself, but the NPC attached to the quest, Igon. He’s a fan-favourite among the community, thanks to the devastating monologue he deliverswhen he’s summoned to the Bayle fight. If Bayle does make it to Monster Hunter Wilds, Igon should definitely be part of the crossover as well.
Considering both dragons are way past their prime when you come across them in Elden Ring, some of the comments mentioned that it would be great if we got to see healthier versions of them, with all heads attached.
The Monster Hunter series has its own share of dragons and elder dragons, so it wouldn’t be much of a departure. Placidusax, however, would be pretty eye-catching with his two heads and aggressive lightning attacks. Bonus points if we have to nap in a coffin to summon him.
