Monster Hunter Wilds Is Changing Four Of The Game’s Most Notorious Weapons
When talking about Wilds' weapons, game director Yuya Tokuda told us:
Some weapons will also have a big change. Insect Glaive, Switch Axe, Lance, Sword & Shield are the weapons that will have big changes when we have the final product version. So we hope everybody looks forward to that.
It comes as no surprise that these weapons are the ones to get the biggest reworks, with the likes of the Insect Glaive and the Lance falling in popularity as the series has progressed.
Tokuda-san’s comments on the Insect Glaive line up with senior features editor Eric Switzer’s feelings about the weapon as he previewed Monster Hunter Wilds in Japan. He felt that the Insect Glaive was significantly different from the game’s open beta test, with the weapon having a more fluid flow and better-connecting animations between attacks, noting that the Vaulting Dance is back.
The aforementioned beta test was one of 2024’s biggest gaming events,registering a peak of over 460,000 playersand outperformingCall of Duty: Black Ops 6andHelldivers 2.
