Based on what we saw in the open beta test,Monster Hunter Wildsis set to be one of the biggest launches of 2025. Fans loved almost everything they saw in the beta, and the things they didn’t are already being addressed by the developers. One of the main things thatplayers gave feedback about was the toned down hit stop feature.
For those new to the series, hit stop is a feature that makes a big hit seem more satisfying by freezing a frame or two when it lands. It gives powerful hits a crunchy effect. After fans voiced their concerns, Capcom stated that it willwork on ensuring the feature is present in the final build. In a recent showcase, the devs have shown how the hit stop and certain weapons have been reworked.
Monster Hunter Wilds Showcases Hit Stop And Weapon Changes
In a video showcase featuring director Yuya Tokuda, Capcom has revealed some of the changes that have been implemented based on the feedback received from the open beta test. Speaking via a translator, Tokuda revealed that the team had anticipated feedback about hit stop and was already working on making it more prevalent.
In the accompanying video, they revealed a true charged slash of a greatsword with the reworked hit stop system (at 16:31). It’s evident that the feature has been tuned up, and the slash looks quite satisfying and weighty, even if it’s just against a bunch of barrels. Even the sound effects have been tuned to make the attack more satisfying to land. These changes have been implemented across all weapon types.
The video also illustrated the changes that have come to certain weapons. Capcom previously told us thatfour weapons were going to get some big changes, and the video showcased reworks for the Insect Glaive, Switch Axe, Lance, and Sword & Shield.
Insect Glaive mains will be glad to hear the Vaulting Dance is back. The charge counter on the Lance will allow you to charge while guarding. Switch Axe will see changes coming to the sword mode and will negate knockback during Full Release Slash. Lastly, Sword & Shield will now allow you to use Rising Slash while guarding. All of this is complemented by other minor changes as well.
Tokuda was also asked about the possibility of another beta test, and, while he didn’t rule it out entirely, he said that if another one were to happen, it would only be for those who missed the first one and would not feature these new changes.
