Summary
Earlier this year,Minecraftfans were both horrified and delighted bythe first official trailer for the Minecraft movie, which saw the eclectic cast enter The Overworld and meet Steve, who looked a lot like Jack Black in a blue shirt. That trailerwent down like a lead balloon with longtime Minecraft fans, so here’s hoping that Warner Bros. does a little better with the movie’s second trailer, which dropped earlier today.
The trailer begins with some backstory about Steve, explaining that he was once a little boy that dreamed of becoming a miner, before one day realizing his dream and finding a doohickey that transported him to The Overworld. We then see a quick montage of footage from moments in the movie, as Steve interacts with the movie’s main cast and gives them more info about the world they find themselves in.
Minecraft Movie’s Second Trailer Shows Off Redstone Contraptions And Ender Pearls
While a lot of the footage is fairly basic, we do see a couple of Minecraft staples. For example, halfway through the trailer, Steve and the gang ride a minecart over some redstone-powered rails, and also use a redstone-powered cooker to fry a chicken alive. Later on, one of the movie’s characters picks up an Ender Pearl, throwing it over his shoulder in disbelief after Steve tells him he can use it to teleport, which leads to him teleporting to the other side of the room.
They’re very small snippets of the movie, but at least it proves that someone behind the scenes is committed to making it as faithful as possible, even if it still looks absolutely hideous. Speaking of, we also get to see the Minecraft crew running from various mobs too, which were recently shown off on their own cursed showcases. Granted, they look a little bit better in the actual film, but they’re still weirdly creepy.
That’s pretty much all Warner Bros. had to show in this new trailer, though you’d imagine we’ll get a couple more before Minecraft releases on April 4 next year. Until then, we can only cross our fingers and pray that we’re not subjected to anything more distressing from the Minecraft movie in the meantime.
