Summary

Last week, it was revealed thatAmazon MGM Studioshasa Mass Effect TV show in full development, which has been rumoredever since the company bought the TV rights to the series from EA way back in 2021. While details were scarce (and still are), it was claimed that Fast & Furious 9 writer David Casey will write and executive produce.

That’s all we know about the project right now, as the show’s plot, release date, and potential leads are all being kept a closely guarded secret. However, it seems as though one actor potentially involved in the project has been a little cheeky on social media, as Peacemaker lead and professional wrestler John Cenaposted a picture of the Mass Effect 2 crew to his personal Instagramshortly after the TV announcement was made.

Mass Effect’s Amazon TV Show May Involve John Cena

We can see from the picture that Cena posted the image ofMass Effect 2four days ago, which was just two days after it was revealed the TV show was in development. That could either mean that Cena is simply quite excited about the prospect of a Mass Effect TV show, like pretty much every fan of the series, or it could be a sneaky hint that Cena is involved.

To make the case for the latter, we know that Cena is a bit of a gamer, having talked about his love for video games in various interviews over the years. Fast & Furious 9 writer David Casey could also be a strong hint about Cena’s potential involvement, as those that have actually seen the movie will know that Cena plays the villain Jakob Toretto, so the two have worked together before.

We also know that Cena has used his Instagram account to tease things in the past, having posted a picture of the Twitch streamer Kai Cenat shortly before appearing on one of his streams. Unfortunately, the rest of his Instagram account could also debunk the theory, as it’s easily one of the strangest celebrity Instagram accounts out there.

So, this Mass Effect could either be a genuine tease that he’s involved, or a half-baked thought about the series one afternoon when he was needing an image to post. Either way, it’s interesting to imagine Cena potentially playing a character like Commander Shepard, though fans already reckon he’d make a better Grunt or Wrex. I think we can definitely rule out him playing Miranda though.
