Marvel has been taking the video game industry by storm. As if three greatSpider-Mangames weren’t enough,Marvel Rivalswent ahead and redefined the hero shooter genre. However, before the hero shooter, Marvel dipped its toes into card games withMarvel Snap. Unfortunately, the mobile card game hit a snag as collateral damage from theTikTokban in the USA.

TikTok’s temporary ban saw Marvel Snap become unavailable for a bit, possibly due to its link with the social media platform’s parent company, ByteDance. Even after the ban was lifted, Marvel Snap took a while to come back online, resulting in players losing playing time and possible rewards. It seems developer Second Dinner is now taking measures to ensure this never happens again.

Marvel Snap Developer Is Making Big Changes To Ensure This Never Happens Again

In a tweet, Second Dinner revealed that Marvel Snap is back online, and that it will be taking some big steps in ensuring something like this does not occur again. “Marvel Snap is back online in the U.S. But to verify this never happens again, we’re working to bring more services in-house and partner with a new publisher. This is the start of a new era for Marvel Snap.

“We know this probably leaves you with even more questions than answers. We appreciate your patience, but in the meantime enjoy playing Marvel Snap,” continued the tweet. “We’ll continue to update with more information as soon as possible!”

It seems Second Dinner understands that having links to a Chinese publisher could unintentionally put it in the crosshairs of geo-political issues. In another case, Chinese video game giantTencent was designated as a Chinese military company by the United States Department of Defense. Possibly having a local publisher in the US might avoid such issues.

Unfortunately, while the game is online again, it seems in-app purchases are still down for the moment, and the team is working on getting them back online. Second Dinner has also ensured that all players will be compensated for loss of playing time during this issue. There’s no word yet on the new publishing partner for the game, but we can expect it to be based in the US to avoid further controversy.
