Summary
Yesterday, after what felt like years of waiting,Nintendo finally announced the Nintendo Switch 2.
Although the presentation was lacking in major details, Nintendo was more than happy totease what seems like the next Mario Kart game, likely Mario Kart 9.
Naturally, with a massive tease but no further information, fans have scrambled to find whatever tidbits they can in the trailer. So far, they think the game will have races featuring up to 24 racers and they’ve evenstarted to piece together the roster.
Another theory that went around shortly after the reveal was that Mario Kart 9 would featureSuper Mario Bros. Wonder’sWonder Seeds, but unfortunately, it looks like that rumor has been debunked.
Mario Kart 9 Probably Won’t Include Wonder Seeds
Imagine the scene. You’re racing around one of Mario Kart 9’s new tracks, and up pops a Wonder Seed. You grab it, and the track changes, adding weird and wonderful elements that help or hinder you. It’s an exciting thought and one which seemed like it could be a reality.
Immediately after the reveal, Twitter userJolly Jthought they’d spotted a Wonder Seed near the Yoshi restaurant on the course shown. Glowing in yellow by the restaurant’s entrance, Jolly’s theory seemed perfect and generated a lot of excitement. Unfortunately, it was quickly debunked.
Zooming further in on the trailer,SuperWiiBros08spotted that the glowing yellow object wasn’t a Wonder Seed and, instead, looked like a yellow fast food takeaway bag with a smiling face on.
Sadly, the dreams of Mario Kart Wonder came crashing down, but it opened up a whole new world of possibilities.
One theory suggested that these items wouldserve as fuel refills for the racers' karts, given that the fuel tanks are now visible, and another that Mario Kart 9 would feature Diddy Kong Racing-styleobjectives to complete during races.
Whatever it is, we already can’t wait for theNintendo Switch 2and the nextMario Kartgame.
