Archazia’s Island, the seventhDisney Lorcanaset (oh, how time flies), is coming to local game stores on March 7. That’s 114 days afterAzurite Sea, which launched on June 28, 2025, making it the longest gap between set releases by over two weeks. What’s more, we’ve yet to see a single card reveal from Archazia’s Island. The community has started to grow restless, and with many concerned about this sudden change from the norm,Ravensburger offered a statement this week, confirming the card reveals will begin on February 10.

We can only speculate as to why we have a longer set and a shorter spoiler season. Anything from staffing changes, to end of the year budget considerations, to printing delays, to even just the need to slow things down to give the designers more breathing room could have been a factor here. If you want to be optimistic, maybe there’s something super secret and exciting coming in Archazia’s Island and Ravensburger doesn’t want to spoil the surprise too soon. Whatever the reasons may be, at least know the dates and what to expect. The question is, what does a shortened spoiler season mean for Lorcana?

Long Set And Short Spoiler Season

Card games are a strange beast. The moment new cards are released, everyone just wants to know what the next new cards will be. TCGs are the original live service game in that way, and we all know how fickle gamers can be. There’s an expectation that card games must maintain a certain level of hype at all times in order to keep people excited and engaged. Even just a month without any news might lead people to stray away, so not showing us any new cards for three months is bound to rub some people the wrong way.

At the same time, there’s something to be said for delayed gratification. There’s less than a month between the start of spoiler season and the release of Archazia’s Island, which means we’ll need to see an average of nine new cards every day to get through them all before launch. That’s going to give us a lot to chew on throughout February as card reveals flood in and the theorycrafting begins. A month is still a lot of time to build hype, even if it isn’t as long as we’re used to.

Personally, I prefer a shorter spoiler season. I keep up with multiple TCGs that all have their own spoiler season, so for me, the more condensed the better. But I also think the card reveals are more exciting when they all come at once. I never liked getting a card a day spread out over months. I love that it gives each character and artist a moment in the spotlight, but let’s be honest - from a competitive player perspective, not every card deserves the spotlight.

I’ve forgotten more Lorcana cards than I can remember at this point, so I’d prefer to see them all in a short amount of time rather than go on a wild goose chase to find the one new card revealed every day for months, that usually isn’t worth looking at early anyway.

Since announcing reveals will start February 10, the Disney Lorcana Twitter account has revealed four cards, so who even knows now.

Less Time, More Cards

If there’s one downside to the shorter spoiler season it’s that the sites and content creators that get to reveal cards won’t get as much credit. When you’re seeing eight new cards a day you probably won’t even be aware of who got to reveal them. That can be disappointing for content creators, especially the ones who work hard to make their card reveals special, but ultimately I think getting to reveal a card is the real reward, not the clout that comes from revealing it.

My hype has not been harmed by the longer season or the shorter reveal period. We just had the North American Continental Championship, set champs are currently ongoing, and as soon as those are over, the card reveals will start flooding in. The sudden change and lack of communication around that change should be addressed, but if this is going to be the cadence for spoiler season going forward, I couldn’t be happier.
