Summary
If you’re tired ofSonyremaking and or remastering the samePlayStationgames, then we can’t blame you. There’s only so muchThe Last of Usa person can handle, andUntil Dawndidn’t exactlyneed a full-scale remake, evenwith a movie adaptation on the horizon.
Beyond that, though,PlayStation has such a rich history of IPs that are just begging for a remake or remaster for modern consoles. And that’s exactly what one Redditor posed to their fellow PlayStation gamers: If you can greenlight a remake or remaster a specific game or franchise, then what would you choose.
The results are a trip down the multi-decade history of PlayStation as we know it.
inFamous, Resistance, Jak And Daxter And More
One of the more popular responses wasSucker Punch’sinFamousseries, particularly the two titles still stuck on thePS3. After releasing Second Son onPS4, Sucker Punch moved onto theGhost of Tsushima franchise, leaving behind the world of Conduits.
“I really hate Infamous ended as a franchise where it did. It had so much potential,“one gamer lamented.
Elsewhere,Resistance was another popular answer. The sci-fi first-person shooter fromInsomniacis fondly remembered for its unique story and terrifying enemies. “It boggles my mind that we have Horizon Zero Dawn remastered, but you may’t even play the Resistance trilogy on PS5,“a user wrote. Indeed, like inFamous, the original Resistance trilogy is stranded on the PS3.
Jak and Daxter also made an appearance. Withthe addition of Daxter via PS Plus, every Jak game is playable on modern hardware, but that hasn’t stopped fans from wishing for a return to the series. “J&D with current day ND’s visuals? Sign me up,“one gamer wished.
The rest of the thread is filled with dozens of other nostalgic titles, ranging from Syphon FiltertoSly Cooper. Perhapsthe most interesting mention was MAG, the defunct multiplayer shooter on PS3. “I feel MAG came out way before its time. Sadly, I also think now may be a bit too late,“one user chimed in. Given Sony’s desire to carve a space in the live-service genre, perhaps a MAG return wouldn’t be too far-fetched.Then again, coming off Concord, perhaps it’s best to leave MAG behind.
Either way, the thread isn’t short on a number of titles fully deserving of a remake or remaster. And at the very least, if neither of those are possible, then ports to modern hardware should at least be in the works.
