Teamfight Tacticsand its thirteenth set, titled Into The Arcane, has a lot of content for players to learn, from entirely new traits to familiar champions with adjusted abilities. While some can be a bit basic, the units that always have at least a unique flair are the legendary units, also known as the five-cost units.

These units are marked with a yellow border in the shop and usually only come around near the late game when players hit levels eight or nine. Even then, the units are rare, so picking one up can be the difference between a win and a loss. For Set 13, here are all the five-cost units, their traits, and how to build and place them on your battlefield in TFT.

Art of Jinx from League of Legends, Arcane and Teamfight Tactics.

All Five-Cost Units In Teamfight Tactics Set 13

There areeight different five-cost unitsin TFT Set 13, and each one provides a significantly different potential benefit to your board. These eight units include:

Caitlyn

Enforcer/Sniper

As is customary in TFT,some of these units have traits that are uniqueto themselves, such asSevika and Rumble. These traitsinstantly become active once they are placedon the board, and offer another potential boon on top of a powerful unit for your team.

For the unit breakdowns below, the statistics for their abilities will beaccurate to what the PBE showed a day before the official launchof Set 13.

The Jinx unit in Teamfight Tactics Set 13.

Some abilities might have different damage numbers or stun times, but theoverall effect of the abilities along with which traits these units have will remain the same, at least until the mid-set changes.

Description

Rebel

Rebeloffers extra healthwhen active and a boost to its units when they collectively have less than 30 percent health.

Ambusher

Ambusher, when active, allows its units' abilities to critical strikeand boosts those units' crit chance and crit damage.

Jinx is one of the star unitsfrom Set 13 due to its ties to the TV show Arcane, and she has two traits in this set:Rebel and Ambusher.

The LeBlanc unit in Teamfight Tactics Set 13.

Where Jinx is very unique is her abilityRuin Everything. Every time she uses her ability, she swaps between acycle of three options: Zap, Flame Chompers, and Death Rocket. Each one has a different effect, as Zap stuns enemies in a line, Flame Chompers does damage to three hexes, and Death Rocket does significant damage to all enemies on the board after a small delay.

The game marks her asan Attack Caster, meaning that she deals mainly attack damage, but her priority is to use her ability as much and as fast as possible.

The Malzahar unit in Teamfight Tactics Set 13.

Due to that, some of thebest itemsto put on Jinx includea Spear of Shojin, Blue Buff, Infinity Edge, or a Deathblade. As her type suggests, she is best placedin one of the corners, with plenty of allies to protect her.

Black Rose

Black Rose offersa new ally on the board, Sion, which improves the more Black Rose units you have on your board.

Sorcerer

Sorcerer gives the whole team added Ability Powerwhile Sorcerers get more.

LeBlanc is another five-cost unit that doesn’t have its own unique trait; instead, it usesBlack Rose and Sorcerertraits.

The Jayce unit in Teamfight Tactics Set 13.

Her ability,The Chains of Fate, chains the five closest targets together and does magic damageto them all while also doing true damage to some in the chain. Then, her next three attacks have bonus magic damage, which increases if the original chain kills enemies.

As a standardMagic Caster, the way to build LeBlanc is with items that allow her to cast often but do a lot of damage, which includesa Spear of Shojin, Jeweled Gauntlet, Archangel’s Staff, Blue Buff, or a Rabadon’s Deathcap.

The Rumble unit in Teamfight Tactics Set 13.

Just like Jinx, put LeBlanc in a spot where she can be protected, so likely in the bottom corners.

Automata

Automatasgain Armor and Magic Resist, but this trait revolves around gaining crystals every time they are hit, andwhen they stack 20, they deal added magic damageto their current target.

Visionary

Visionary units simplyregenerate mana fasterthan other units would when the trait is active.

Malzahar is both anAutomata and a Visionary, two relatively common traits for the set, but thanks to his unique ability, he can get the most out of those traits as well as help complete the later variations of them in the late game.

The Mordekaiser unit in Teamfight Tactics Set 13.

Malzahar’s ability,Call of the Machine, summons a gate that stretches beside his target, dealing magic damage to all within and Shredding them for 20 percent of their Magic Resist.

He alsoInfects enemies withinwith five stacks of Infection, which deals magic damage per second for the rest of the combat andcan stack indefinitely. If an Infected target dies, the nearest living enemy gets Infected with all the previous stacks.

The Sevika unit in Teamfight Tactics Set 13.

Due to this strong ability, thebest itemsto put on Malzahar includethe Spear of Shojin, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Archangel’s Staff, or a Morellonomicon. Keeping the trend alive, keep Malzahar in the corner, so others can keep him alive to open more gates.

Academy focuses onsponsored items for units offering unique bonuses.

Form Swapper

Form Swapperschange their form based on whether they’re positioned in the front two rows or the back two, offeringDurability to the frontliners while givingDamage Amp bonuses to the backliners.

Jayce has two new traits for Set 13 but no unique legendary traits. These two traits areAcademy and Form Swapper.

The Caitlyn unit in Teamfight Tactics Set 13.

Jayce’s ability isSpecial Delivery, which has a Passive and Active ability. Thepassive allows Jayce to place a Forge on the battlefield, which offers shields to nearby allies when he uses his Active ability. HisActive ability summons two gates, knocking his target into one and shooting him back to his original spot, dealing damage to everyone in between.

While he can be placed in plenty of spots,Jayce is best used as a front liner, so his best items are ones that keep him alive, includingthe Bloodthirster, Titan’s Resolve, Sterak’s Cage, or a Hand of Justice.

Junker King

Junker King offersan armory every three roundsthat improves the strongest Rumble on your battlefield.

Scrap

Scrap cantransform item components into full itemsalong with a Shield buff for Scrap units.

Sentinel

Sentinel just offers a flatincrease to your team’s Armor and Magic Resist(with an increased amount to Sentinel units).

With Rumble, we have ourfirst legendary trait in Set 13: Junker King. On top of that, Rumble also hasScrap and Sentinel.

His ability,The Equalizer, calls down five missiles in a row that deal magic damage, Wound, and Burnunits within five seconds. Missiles that don’t hit targets refund mana to Rumble, while if there is only one enemy left alive on the battlefield, all the missiles target them.

While a front liner, the Scrap and Sentinel traits allowRumble to play up close and personalwhile being able to build him as a Magic Reaper (a high-damaging Magic unit). Therefore, thebest itemsarea Spear of Shojin, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Giant Slayer, or a Jeweled Gauntlet.

Conqueror

Conqueroroffers loot after their units take down enough foes, along withadded Attack Damage and Ability Power.

Dominator

The Dominator trait offers its unitsa shield when combat begins and adds Ability Power on their ability cast, which is determined by how much mana they spend on their ability.

Mordekaiser provides a new kind of legendary unit to Set 13, with the traits ofConqueror and Dominator.

As for his ability,Grasp of the Iron Revenantgives Mordekaiser sometemporary Durabilitywhilesummoning a claw that damages all enemies in a line, dealing more damage to the closest four andpulling them to Mordekaiser.

Also, for ten seconds after the ability is used,Mordekaiser’s attacks are buffedas a slam that can hit multiple targets.

Mordekaiser, like previous sets, is a unique unit because hecan be both a tank and a damage dealer. His best position is stillin the front line, but his best items includea Bloodthirster, a Titan’s Resolve, a Crownguard for shielding, or even a Jeweled Gauntletfor damage.

High Roller

High Rollerallows Sevika to get a random bonus when her ability is cast based on a dice roll of four outcomes:rockets, a shield, three gold, or all the above.

Chem-Baron

Chem-Baron offers Shimmer after each player combat, with increased amounts on losing streaks, and for each stack of 100 Shimmer, the game offers contraband only for Chem-Baron units.

Pit Fighter

Pit Fighter gives its units Omnivamp and bonus True Damage, along with a heal when they first fall under half health.

Sevika has a unique trait calledHigh Rolleron top ofChem-BaronandPit Fighter.

Sevika’s ability,Beat the Odds, is effectively the same rundown as her unique trait: the chance to getthree different abilities or all of them at once. This time, the options are a Flamethrower, an Extendo-Punch, and a Chomp attack, with the potential for a jackpot.

Even with the ever-changing ability, Sevika is stilla melee physical damage fighter, so placing her as part of your frontline witha Bloodthirster, Titan’s Resolve, Hand of Justice, Infinity Edge, or Giant Slayeris best.

Enforcer

Enforcer gives its unitsa Shield, Damage Amp, and boost to their attack speedif their wanted target gets eliminated.

Sniper

Snipersdeal increased damage to targets who are further away.

Lastly, the true sniper of the bunch, Caitlyn also joins the legendary five-cost group as a character prominent in the Arcane show. Her traits areEnforcer and Sniper.

Her ability,Air Raid, calls in an airship to drop bombs all over the battlefieldfor five seconds, dealing damage and reducing their Armor and Magic Resist.

Caitlyn is best placedin a corner with protection, considering how strong her ability is, but the best items for her are a mix of attack casting and pure auto-attack damage. That includesa Spear of Shojin, an Infinity Edge, Runaan’s Hurricane, and potentially a Giant Slayer.
