Path of Exile 2has many similarities to the first game, but there are a few key additions that refresh the gaming experience. One of these new additions is charms, which are a unique type of accessory that have charges similar to flasks.
Wondering how charms work? In this guide, we are going to take a look at how charms work in Path of Exile; this will include how to find and use them, as well as how to get more charm slots. At first, charm descriptions can be a bit confusing, so we’ll cover their exact effects as well.
What Are Charms?
Charms arelittle accessories that provide defensiveeffects such as fire resistance or immunity to poison. These effectstrigger when you get hit with the related attack/effect.For example, the Sapphire Charm provides a25 percent increase in Cold Resistance after you take Cold damage from a hit;this will last four seconds.
Like potions, charms have chargesthat you’ll need to keep note of. When your charm runs out of charges,it will not activate. So, the example Sapphire Charm above won’t provide Cold Resistance if you are hit by Cold damage. The charges can be increased by killing monsters or refilling them at a well.
Charms can beincreased in rarity. For example, you can use anOrb of Transmutationon a charmin order to make it magic.
With this in mind, you’ll also be able to use materials on it thatadd or change the modifiers. The main effect of the charm will remain the same. We added a modifier to our Sapphire Charm that causes ourmana to recover by four after use of the charm.
All Charms In Path Of Exile 2
In total, there are currently12 charms in the game, which you’re able to find below. At max, you’ll only be able to havethree on at a time.
Used when Bleeding starts
Immune to being Stunned
Immune to Slow effects
Used when affected by a Slow effect
+20% increases rarity of items found
Used when killing a Rare/Unique Enemy
All charms have 80 charges, but depending on the charm, it will use a differnt amount per use. There are also modifiers that reduce the amount of charges a charm uses per activation. In general though,a basic charm has about one to two uses before there are not enough charges.
Where To Put Charms
Charms can beequipped based on the belt that you are currently wearing. If you don’t have a belt on, thenyou won’t be able to use charms.Thankfully, belts can drop from enemies upon defeat, similar to most other types of gear.
You can alsopurchase a belt from a vendor, as well as gamble for one with Finn.If you can’t get a belt to drop, we suggest justheading to Renly in the Clearfell Encampment and buying one.Once you put the belt on,at least one charm slot will unlock. From the inventory screen, these are the three little boxes below the belt slot.
The charm slots will alsodisplay directly to the right of your potions, allowing you to easily check the effects and charges that it currently has.
How To Get More Charms
So, how do you get these charms? First and foremost, they have a chance to drop from pretty much anything in the world. If you are going through the story and killing every monster that comes your way, you’ll have a good chance to get a charm.
Overall, we suggest justgoing through each map and keeping your eyes peeled for any charms that drop. There is a limited amount in the game, so we recommendholding on to every charm that drops; you can store the extras in your stash.
