In any crafting, survival, or RPG game, you’ll want to upgrade your equipment more often than not, and it’s the same inLuma Island. You’ll get a set of seven basic tools after the tutorial, including your standard Axe and Pickaxe, and all but two of them can be upgraded at the local anvil.

You’ll be breaking down and harvesting many different materials in the game for all your recipes, and it’ll get annoying if you stick with the basic, slow equipment you have at the start. The more you upgrade, the quicker you can farm up all that wood, stone, ore, and everything else.

Volcanic is thefinal tier availablefor your tools, and you’ll need amassive amount of Coalto help youobtain all the Volcanic Bars neededto afford the upgrades, especially once youhit the final two tiers.

Thefirst three tiershave thenormal increasing amountof materials needed, usingVolcanic Bars and Jungle Leather, but both thefourth and final upgradeasks for amassive amount of materialsin return for giving you themost powerful tools available.

It’smuch easier to find large amounts of Jungle Mushrooms in the Forbidden Jungle Cave, near the boat’s drop-off point, than it is searching for them in the Jungle itself.

Due to their massive cost, the final upgrade tiers arebest savedfor once you can eithermake master-level recipes in bulkor if you cansell at least one of the final Master-tier recipes, such as the Sword of the Lost Druids, inwhichever Profession you picked.

Theyall sell for at least 100,000 Gold, though theFisherman’s one sells for the mostat 250,000 Gold, and it can make the hugecost of the upgrade a lot more bearable, even if you only happen tocraft one or twoof themat most.

Upgrading each type of tool to the maximum levelgrants you the Masterwork achievement for its respective tool typefor doing so.
