Synduality: Echo Of Adathrows you in at the deep end, letting you face its full wrath from the get-go. That said, it still doesn’t let you access everything immediately, so as not to overwhelm you too much. In the beginning, the only area you can sortie into is the Northern Zone, though the game makes it very clear there is more to see.
You can’t force your way quickly into the Southern Zone though. The game wants to verify you know the full extent of its mechanics and game-flow before you can see the entirety of its world. It’s nothing obscenely complex though, so let’s get you sortied into this new zone as soon as possible.
How To Gain Access To The Southern Zone
After a few sorties in the Northern Zone, you’ll be introduced to Requests, given to you by various organisations within the Association. These quests are varied, from defeating enemies with certain weapons, to reclaiming lost artefacts. One particularly important request will eventually come infrom the Association HQ, the Class B Drifter’s License Exam.
This request, when completed, will grant you access to the Southern Zone. The request itself tasks you with going to the Northern Zone and taking out a series of bandits to prove your capabilities. You can’t just speedrun the Association HQ requests to get this one however, as it remains unavailable until a good portion ofrequests from other organisations are complete as well.
Once you have completed it though, you are grantedimmediate accessto the brand-new Southern Zone.
Differences Between The Southern And Northern Zone
The Northern Zone is diverse, built more like a circle to make every area easily accessible. While it’s never an area you’ll stop going to, it’s definitely a bitmore beginner-friendlyin terms of its layout, and will naturally be filled with more beginner players than advanced ones.
The Southern Zone isbuilt more like a long stripand has a much more winding geography. There are fewer places to hide from the rain, more places for enemies and players to ambush you, and it can take a considerable amount more time to actually move across it. The Sacred Rock region, for example, has to be slowly climbed all the way up. There’s no shortcut to the top like many areas in the Northern Zone have.
The Southern Zone also has many more areas that result in instant death, from massivebodies of water that will instantly destroy your mech, to sheer drops with a single missed step. The Southern Zone expects you to know what you’re doing. The reward to that risk is the higher number of rare materials you can find. Certain areas, such as the optional lifts around the zone, areguaranteed to have higher-quality itemsin them.
