Gas is one of the most important resources inProject Zomboid, but as long as you know where to find it, you shouldn’t realistically ever run out of it.
Once the power drops out, you’ll need gas to power your generators to keep the lights on, your fridges and freezers running to preserve food for longer, and to run your cars and trucks. There are plenty of methods to acquire gas in Project Zomboid - but the easiest is directly from the pumps before the power runs out.
Where To Find Gas In Project Zomboid
Almost every settlement - both large and small - will have a gas station in the vicinity. A large city, like Louisville, has several around the outskirts of the city. Smaller settlements, likeEcho Creek, will usually just have a single gas station.
In Build 42, you may findfliersorbrochuresthat point you in the direction of a nearby gas station, or one located somewhere on the map that you can then mark down for later.
Gas station pumps have basicallyunlimited fuel- although there is technically a finite amount, the sheer number of liters available means it’s extremely unlikely you’ll ever empty one during your run.
That being said, as of Build 42, there is a chance that the gas pumps have already been emptied. Likely by panicked citizens trying to flee Knox County. It may have a"No Gas"sign near the pumps. Always double-check the pumps, however!
While the power is still on, you can use the gas pumps to fill a car directly or fill various containers to store for later. It’s a good idea tocarry multiple gas cansso that you can stock up on fuel whenever you pass a pump.
Even when the power goes off, you can use ageneratorto power the pumps. You just need to set the generator up near the pumps, add fuel, connect it, and then turn it on.
How To Siphon Gas In Project Zomboid
As well as from pumps, you may siphon gas from other vehicles using ahoseand agas can(or other container).
Gas cans can usually be found ingarages, in the back of cars, at auto-shops, and in various other locations.
Hoses are usually found in sheds and warehouses, although you may also find them at auto-shops.
Just walk up to a car and open its hood to check to see if there’s gas inside.
If there is, you can pressVon your keyboard to open the vehicle interaction menu. Just click onSiphon Fueland your character will empty the tank (or take as much as possible in the container they’re currently holding.)
