Tien in Versus and Online Matches
Overall, Tien’s stats aren’t something to write home about as they are pretty basic. This does come as a benefit, however, as the low stats also come witha low DP cost of four. What he makes up for his low stats are hislow Skill costandhighly versatile Special Moves.
For starters, Solar Flare is an amazing tool against highly aggressive opponents. Upon activation, it willmomentarily stun and blind the opponent, leaving them open to receiving a lot of damage. Be mindful when activating Solar Flare, asit can be avoidedand leave you completely open to the opponent.
Solar Flare has super armor upon activation and can only be interrupted by more powerful attacks. You will still be able to receive damage.
Wild Sense willautomatically avoid the next melee attackthe opponent throws at you, countering it with your own. This can beused both defensively and offensively, as it can bepreemptively activatedand held until the first opponent’s attack.
Dodon Ray fires a beam attack that willtravel extremely quicklyanddeal moderate damage. It is effective as botha combo finisher after a launchor aranged poking toolagainst opponents attempting to charge Ki. Its sheer speed andextremely low costmake it the most effective tool in his kit.
Tri-Beam also firesa quick projectile, though with less tracking, anddeals slightly more damagethan Dodon Ray. Though there is a slight damage increase compared to Dodon Ray,the cost isan extra Ki Gaugeand may not be worth it in the long run.
Neo Tri-Beam is Tien’s ultimate attack that comes with its own unique effect. Whilst asingle blast does quite low damage, the move can becontinuously fired up to 10 times, drasticallyincreasing its damageat the cost ofdraining your health after each subsequent shot. This should be usedat the end of a comboand is onlytruly worth it when the opponent is low on health.
Neo Tri-Beam is unable to kill you should you waste all of your health.
