Near the end ofIndiana Jones And The Great Circle, your quest will bring you to Sukhothai, where the search for the final stone leads you to chase legends of a Blessed Pearl. The good news is, Voss hasn’t found the way to the Hidden Pyramid of the Nephilim. The bad news is, that’s because it’s, well, hidden.
Finding the Pyramid is only the first step; once you’re inside, you’ll have to contend with some of the game’s deadliest challenges, including Dr. Jones' worst nightmare. It’s time to answer the age-old question; which is worse, a hundred regular snakes or one giant snake?
How To Find The Hidden Pyramid
You can travel to the Hidden Pyramidany time after purchasing the Breathing Device from Tongdang. The easiest way to come up with the money is tosteal Voss' gold stashfrom his camp; while you’re there, you can alsoget a Royal Army Uniformand fight in the nearbyBoxing Ringfor additional cash.
Once you have the Breathing Device, take the boat to the northwest corner of the map, north of Wat Sa Si. There are two paths here; the right is a dead-end, but has awaterfall that you may photograph for adventure points. The left path hasa statue of a Yeak, the monster Sunan told you about earlier, indicating that this is the spot you need to search.
Stop the boat, equip the Breathing Device, and dive underwater. At the bottom of the crumbling architecture you’ll see achute that you can swim down; follow the tunnel to the other side, moving the wooden beam out of the waywhen it blocks your path.
The Breathing Device has a limited oxygen supply, so don’t dally. It refills when you come up for air - keep an eye on the meter in the lower-right corner of the screen.
After the beam, surface in the sunlit chamber on the rightto refill your air, thenproceed down the left-hand path. You should have just enough air to make it to the Gear Train Puzzle at the end of the tunnel.
How To Solve The Khmer Gear Train Puzzle
To activate the mechanism that opens the waterway, you’ll need toseparately activate the gear systems on each side of the room. You can do them in any order, but before you can start you’ll need tocollect the cogwheelshidden nearby.
When you collect the third small cogwheel, use the whipto pull the ring from the wall on the other side of the waterwheel; this will start the wheel turning, powering the machinery.
Right Gear Train
The right gear train is the simplest of the cogwheel puzzles. Placeone small cogwheelto the right of the big gear in the center, then alarge cogwheelto the right of that, forming a horizontal train. Place a second small cogwheeldirectly above the large wheel that you just placed, then put your third small wheel in thelast remaining slot, to the right. This will create a chain from the main gear to the vine-covered cog in the upper-right corner.
Once the cogs are set, pull the leverat the center of the mechanism. If the setup is correct, thestatue to the leftwill recede into the ground.Once it does, take all the cogwheels back; you’ll need them for the other puzzle.
Left Gear Train
You’ll needall five cogwheels, two large and three small, to get the left gear train working, and thewaterwheel in the backmust be activated (see above). Once the conditions are met, place a large cog to the left of the main gear.Next, puttwo small cogwheelsin a rowto the left ot the cogwheel that you just placed.
Put the second large cogwheelbelow the leftmost small cogwheel, so that it’spartly behind the statue’s ear. Finally, place the last small cogwheelin the final slot to the right, completing the gear train. If you’ve done it correctly, pulling the lever will cause the statue to recede, just like with the right gear train.
Take all three small cogwheels with you when you leave. You’ll need them for optional puzzles hidden throughout Sukhothai, and youwon’t be able to collect all the Ancient Relics without them.
Once both statues have gone into the ground, turn the dial on the wall between the two gear trainsto trigger a cutscene and reveal the Hidden Pyramid.
If you aren’t fully stocked on supplies like Bandages, you should turn back at this point and raid an enemy camp to get some before continuing.
How To Enter The Sukhothai Pyramid
There are no doors, stairs, or ladders visible on the outside of the pyramid. To get in, you’ll have tobrave the water and its serpentine guardian.
Unless you are in a tight space where the giant snake can’t fit, you’llhear a sonar soundany time you’re in the water on the pyramid grounds. That’s the snake tracking you. The sound will get faster and faster the closer the beast gets - if the snake catches you, you’ll be devoured instantly.Get out of the water or into coverbefore that happens.
Taking the boat from the gear puzzle room, approach the pyramid until you see a collapsed tower on your left.Carefully climb onto it from the boat, and you’ll see thatthe roof is hollow; you can swim down into the submerged structure.Equip the Breathing Deviceand move the beam at the bottom of the tower.
Go up for air, then return to the hole andswim straight ahead to the next tower as quickly as you can.As long as you don’t stop, you’ll make it before the snake catches you. Move from safe spot to safe spot, following the sunlight if you get lost, until you’re inside the pyramid. When you briefly see the snake’s face, you’re safe for the time being;swim ahead and get above waterbefore you run out of air.
How To Climb The Hidden Pyramid In Sukhothai
After getting out of the water, go to the end of the room andcarefully jump to the ledges below, until you reach the bottom of the chasm. There, you’ll find ahole that you can crawl through. This will bring you to the Tower.
Carefully walk along the stone ledges, using your whip and running jumps to clear the larger gaps as needed. When you see agiant mushroom to your rightand aspear ahead of you, it will be time to learn a new climbing mechanic.
Using The Giant Mushrooms To Climb
Throwing a spear at a giant mushroom willcreate a swing bar to which you can attach the whip. You have to throw the spear fromdirectly across from the mushroom; hitting it from too far to the side will cause the spear to bounce off. In most cases, there will be multiple spears lying around, but if you miss too many times youmay need to load a checkpointto respawn the spears.
The targeting reticule willturn redif the spear is within range to hit the mushroom, but the angle might still be off.Throw from as close to straight-on as you canfor the best results.
How To Get Through The Lost Archive And Beat The Giant Snake
After swinging from the first mushroom, your path will take you to theLost Archive.Start bytaking the path immediately to the rightto get an Ancient Relic, then make your way across the stones the same way as before; running jumps and swinging. Falling will drop you in the water instead of down a cliff, butthe giant snake is back, so you’ll need to get back onto land as soon as possible if that happens.
Some sections will require you to take a quick swim. As long as you get in and out of the water fast, you’ll be safe from the snake.
When you see the elephant skeleton, your only choice will be torun and jump toward the swing bar to your left, catching it with your whip midair. It will automatically break, dropping you into the water. Climb onto the island under the elephant to confront the snake head-on.
Pick up the spears from the groundand throw them at the snake when it opens its mouth. If you wait too long, it will bite you, taking away a large amount of health. Luckily, the snake takes a while to surface after it dives, so you should be able to apply a Bandage.
There are more spears in the elephant’s holster above you, if you run out of them on the ground.
Once you’ve speared the snake enough times, it will retreat, smashing a hole in the walland allowing you to move to the next area. It won’t bother you again until the end of the mission.
Second Climbing Section
Back in the sunlight, it’s back to climbing. Make your waycounter-clockwise along the cliff edgeuntil you can cross the chasm and work your way back clockwise along the side of the tower. When you come to thegiant snakeskin, there are two paths;continuing to the rightwill take you to the spear that you need tocreate a swing bar directly across the chasm. Before you double back to cross the snakeskin, however, keep going on the right-hand pathto get an Ancient Relic.
Swing across the cliff using the whip on the spear and mushroom, thenclimb through the cave on the other side. You’ll come out directly above where you just were. Take the path to the right toreach the top of the towerafter some brave running jumps and more mushroom swings.
At the top, you’llhear Gina calling from outside.Turn left and go down the stairs to reach the outside of the Pyramid, andpull her up using the whip.
The snake’s escape alsocreated a hole to the rightthat you can use to come and go without going through the whole ruin again. If only that was there before.
Follow Gina up the stairs. She’ll turn the dial to the left of the door; use arunning jumpto go back the way you originally cameand reach the right dial and enter the Game Room.
How To Solve The Nephilim Game Puzzle
Placing a game piece on the board willcause all the towers orthogonally adjacent to itto rotate 90 degrees counter-clockwise. Start bytaking all the pieces from the shelf on the left side of the room.Combined with the one already on the board, that gives you three to work with.
Facing the statue:
When all four towers face the wall, a second shelf withthree more game pieces will be revealed.Keep your current pieces where they are, andput the new pieces on the boardon spots that won’t move the towers; you need them all off the shelf so that you still access them after the panel closes.
When the statue reveals its secret message, take a picture of itto trigger a cutscene and a boss fight.See our guidefor how to handle Locus in the depths of the Pyramid; once he’s beaten, you’ll automatically be transported back outside to continue your adventure.
