In the world ofTrash Goblin, you’re a humble goblin merchant, selling trinkets to fellow merchants, scholars, golems, and all sorts of interesting characters. You’ll find yourself slipping into a comfortable routine in the game: chisel, clean, take customer requests, upcycle, sleep, repeat.
It won’t always be in the same order, and simple as it may be, that doesn’t mean there aren’t ways to make that life even smoother and easier for you, or just ensure you aren’t constantly scrambling for this or that. If you want a few tips to help make your trinket shop the best it can be, we’ve got you covered.
Trash Goblin iscurrently in Early Access on Steam, and due to this, information and mechanics may be subject to change at a later date.
Invest In Storage For Your Trinkets
As you’re fulfilling customer requests, you’re going toend up cleaning a lot of trinketsyou may not need right away while looking for the right one.
Youdon’t want to stop acquiring trinketsentirely either, as this bothprogresses time and lets you build up a stockof things so you can quickly fulfill requests down the line, but youonly have 18 Stash spotsavailable.
If you’rerunning out of Stash spaceor already have, you canstart investing in shelvesfor your workbench area once it’s available.
you’re able to alsostore trinkets on the workbench, which can hold around seven to 12 trinkets, depending on their size, but they can get in the way at times.
Aroundday nine, Asion will introduce the ability toupgrade and decorate your shop, and one of those available is Basic Shelves. They’re also fairly cheap at acost of 300 Gold, but each one only hastwo storage slots.
TheBasic Table also serves as storagefor trinkets, and it’s anupgrade to the shelves. In return for costing500 Gold, it has enough space to hold six to twelve trinkets, depending on how big they are.
Use Hover-Style Cleaning For Small Trinkets
Cleaningsmaller trinketslike the Hairpin can be difficult due to theircoloration or material blending inwith the dirtyou need to remove, and thereisn’t a way to zoom inand get a better view of the tiny details either.
When using the Sponge, thesmall white reticule is the center of the cleaning radius and hitbox, not the entire sponge itself.
When you get these trinkets, swap to the Hover cleaning. Because of how it automatically cleans, it’ll make iteasier to get smaller pieces of crufthiding on the trinket, and even if you don’t keep the setting on for the entire process, it will stillgive you an idea of where the rest is located.
This is doubly so fornaturally rusted trinketslike theBent Nail Handle, as theirrust can look exactly like dirtand requires you toreally scrub it awayto make it clean.
Take Out The Inner Cruft First
You’ll be coming across a handful ofdifferent types of cruft blocks, from theyellow cruft that takes only a few hitsor seconds to break, to theobsidian-like kindthat only breaks if youstrike the purple weak spotlocated on a specific side.
You canchip away at the cruftby working from the outside, but if there’s anybreakable cruft near the actual trinket, you shouldhit it firstbefore any other pieces.
When youchisel the inner section awayor break off apiece holding a section up, you’ll often cause achain reaction that breaks any surrounding cruft blocksthat were attached, including the obsidian cruft.
This willsave you from having to do large portions of workmanually, and sometimes it can eveninstantly reveal the trinket beneathif you hit the right spot on the right configuration of blocks.
Don’t Rush Upgrades When They Appear
When yourfirst tool upgrades appear on day nine, it may be pretty tempting to get them, especially when their price isn’t too high, youwon’t need them right away.
This isespecially true for the Medium Workbench upgrade, as it costs 5,000 Gold, but it mostly provides you with extra space you can also get by purchasing the cheaper shelves and table.
Aimon’s not only going togive your upcycler its first upgrade for free, but it’s also going to bequite a few daysbefore you begin getting customerrequests that ask for trinkets with two or more attachments.
These begin topop up around days 30 to 35, so you’ve gotplenty of timebetween when theupgrades begin appearing and when you’ll need themto save up plenty of Gold, and stillhave some tospend on shop decor and storagewithout worrying that you’ll be unprepared.
you may alsorefuse a customer’s request as long as it isn’t a named characterand give yourself extra time or skip harder requests if need be.
Upcycle Excess Trinkets To Save Space
If you’replanning to save your Goldfor tool or workbench upgradesinstead of purchasing trinket storage, you’re able to helpprevent your Stash from overflowingtoo much byupcycling any trinkets that can be attached, such as the Hairpin and Hairpin Tassel.
Even if youdon’t need them attachedat the time, it’ll turntwo slots of taken-up Stash space into one, and this can seriouslyhelp out with the abundance of trinketsyou’ll end up stashing away while searching for a specific one or just to make sure you’ve got a good stock.
You canupcycle attached trinkets back into separate pieces with no penaltyas long as you’ve got at least a single time chunk available.
Keeping pre-attached trinketsaround will alsosave you time in the futureif a customer asks for them, especially if it’s a named character, and youalready know what they’ll ask forfrom a previous save file.
