Aloftfeatures a vast world with many unique islands floating in the sky. While the islands may be the same, their location is randomly generated in every world, so pinpointing the exact location of an island on the map isn’t easy. Similarly, charcoal is a crafting resource that can be found on many floating islands, but spotting it amidst all the flora and then gathering it can be a challenge. Gathering charcoal is important as it’s used for a variety of tasks, and this guide will tell you how to do it perfectly.

How To Get Charcoal In Aloft

In order to gather charcoal, you will have to find it on an island. You can easilyspot those black stumpsspouting out of the ground. If you approach these black stumps, you’ll be shown a small axe icon, which indicates thatyou’ll need an axe to collect it. You can craft an axe by heading to your inventory, switching to the crafting tab, and following these steps:

You can find these items on any island if you don’t already have them. Stones can be gathered from the ground or mined from larger rocks with the help of a pickaxe. Wood can be gathered by collecting the branches from a tree. Once you have crafted an axe,hitting these black stumps with it will add charcoal to your inventory.

If you’re having trouble finding charcoal, you can add it directly to your inventory via console commands. Press F1 to start the console and type “give coal x” where x can be any number, and charcoal will be added to your inventory.

How To Use Charcoal In Aloft

Charcoal is used for avariety of tasks and crafting recipes. You can combine it with dirty water to get clean water, or you can craft it with wood to get a torch. You will also need charcoal alongside a piece of paper in your inventory tosketch structures with a sketchbook.

You can craft even more recipes with charcoal on a workbench, including sketchbooks. You can also use pieces of charcoal to ignite the fire on a campfire, which can then be used with a cooking plate to cook a variety of dishes.
