Bosses inGenshin Impactare key. Some of them not only work as story closures, but they also drop key items to ascend your characters. One such boss introduced in version 5.2 was Tenebrous Papilla.
This boss is a little more difficult than what you have faced so far. It has an attack that will one-shot you regardless of how much HP you have. Here’s a detailed rundown of where to find and how to defeat the boss if you’re looking to farm the much-needed ascension materials for your favorite characters.
How To Find Tenebrous Papilla
Before you can find the Tenebrous Papilla boss, you’ll need to reach thefirst teleport waypoint in the main hub of the Masters of the Night Wind clan. You can locate this very easily as the name of the clan will be written on the map as soon as youunlock the Tezcatepetonco Range Statue of the Sevenin Natlan.
If you look at the map, you’ll notice that ariver stream runs beside the Masters of the Night Wind clan base. While this river moves to the East, it branches off towards a cave in the North direction. You can easily locate it if you move directly East of the teleport waypoint and stand at the edge of the boundary wall that surrounds the clan base.The cave is unmissable as the opening is quite large.
Fly towards the cave and keep walking straightinstead of taking any detours. Eventually, after moving for a minute,you will encounter the Tenebrous Papilla boss. ensure to hit the teleport waypoint so that you may quickly reach here whenever you need to farm.
How To Beat Tenebrous Papilla
As soon as you walk into the arena, the Tenebrous Papilla will start attacking you. This boss canmimic certain enemiesyou have fought during your journey through the various regions. The various enemies it can transform into are as follows:
The enemy it transforms to is random, and it will use some of their attacks, but you shouldn’t have any issue dealing with those. The mimics don’t stay for long and the boss will keep switching between them as you deal damage to it. However, after enough damage has been dealt, theTenebrous Papilla will turn back to its real form and move to the center of the arena.
Here,the boss will plant its various branches into the ground and start charging up an attack. You’ll notice that aVoid Ward shield bar will appear right below its HP. At this stage,you’ll need to fill up the bar to stop the boss’s incoming attack. If you don’t, no matter how strong your character is,you’ll get one shot and die.
The only way to fill up the bar is byusing Elemental attacks. However, the attacks need to be fast asthe window to charge up the Void Ward is around 13 seconds, which is very short. Once the Void Ward is full,the boss gets paralyzed for a while, and you can deal high damage to it.
If your characters are leveled up, you’ll be able to kill the boss before it can do anything else.
The longer you take to defeat the boss, the less damage it takes to break the Void Ward shield.
Best Team To Use Against Tenebrous Papilla
Tenebrous Papilla doesn’t have any resistances, so you can use any characters you want as long as they candeal Elemental damage consistently off-field and on-field. The best recommended DPS to use in this scenario isArlecchino, as she can deal massive Pyro damage with fast attacks.
You can pair her withRaiden Shogun, Xiangling, andYelan.This team can triggerOverloaded and Vaporizeon the boss, the rest of the team can deal off-field damage while you attack with Arlecchino.
All you need to do istrigger Yelan and Xiangling’s Ultimate, Raiden Shogun’s Elemental Skill, and then switch to Arlecchino for the on-field damage. Xiangling and Yelan can deal massive damage as their Ultimate abilities can hit very hard. Raiden Shogun’s Elemental Skill doesn’t strike hard, but theconsistent procs of Electro can trigger Overloaded.
Once you combine Arlecchino’s attacks with the reactions from the rest of your team’s moves,the shield breaks open fast enough that you can deal significant damage in the paralyzed phase of the boss.
If you don’t have Arlecchino, you can also use the Raiden National team. This will includeRaiden Shogun, Xiangling, Bennett, and Xingqiu. Raiden’s burst has massive damage potential, while Xingqiu and Xiangling can deal off-field damage through their Ultimate abilities. Bennett can buff the allies with his Ultimate, even though he doesn’t actively help in removing the Void Ward shield.
